Your beat speeds up, your eyes widen, your chest tightens and you have dificulties to breathe. These are well-known anxiety attack symptoms. Are there simple tips that can alleviate these symptoms or a cure for panic attacks?

The best manner to find a remedy for anxiety attacks is to figure out its nature. Each of us is afraid of something. In early childhood, you may be afraid of demons and phantoms that haunt your night time dreams. As teenagers, you came across some anxiety on your early day of school or prior to an important test.

But is fear really outgrown?

The answer is no. The feeling of anxiety does not stop when one grows up. Of course, adults are no longer frightened of witches like in early days, but anxiety takes on another look. For most adults, fear springs when things one values are menaced: a family member falls sick, you lose your job, etc. Anxiety can furthermore spring from uncertainty: moving to another location, an employment interview, an important presentation. Some people react to this sensing of not being in control by having a panic attack.

What is the remedy?

A panic attack is a signal of despair and a simple call for help. In order to stay away from them, the initial thing to do is to not let oneself arrive at the tipping point of hopelessness. Lots of people do not communicate their emotions and keep them inside until they are ready to burst out. It is all right to say how you feel. It is all right to feel irritated or to cry. Speak to others about the way you feel. Expressing your emotions will help to reduce your stress and keep you from having an anxiety attack.

An additional advice is to relax when you feel like your stress levels are getting close to boiling point. When you feel like your stress levels are reaching boiling point, give yourself some time out. Do something that will help calm you down. This can range from having a bubble bath to doing some yoga, having a massage or boxing. Drink some camomile tea (a famous antidote to stress). When you already are having an attack, recall yourself to breathe. Take deep, even breaths in and out. Get yourself a glass of water and sip little by little. And call anybody for help.

Finally, it is good to bear in mind that what you are going through or feeling at the moment will go by. It will disappear gradually. Just like your infancy anxieties of bogey men dissipated in the sunlight, so will the issues of today fade in the future. Sure, your problems might not sort themselves out in a day, but keep in mind that Rome was not built in a day either. Keep yourself optimistic and positive. And, most importantly, surround yourself with loving and compassionate people who will help you during your toughest times. This, along with keeping positive, relaxing and giving vent to your emotions will cure any panic attack that might threaten to overwhelm you.
