Door Canopies - The Surprising Reasons People Buy Entrance Canopies

Door canopies and entrance canopies are increasingly being fitted to newly built homes - and about time too. It's not before time that builders realised that we're living in a country which sees the odd drop of rain now and again. Door canopies aren't just attractive exterior decorations; they provide shelter from the elements - highly important if you find yourself arriving home in the pouring rain, clutching bags of shopping and wondering where your key is.

Sometimes a full porch isn't practical from the point of view of space. If you don't have space for a porch, then door canopies are an ideal solution. If your home doesn't already have a porch, door canopy or entrance canopy then you may well consider the following benefits. Whether you're looking to sell your home, enjoy entertaining, or are simply fed up with arriving home damp, it may be time to consider a quick and simple solution which could solve many problems.

But no matter how convenient door canopies may be, many people will not consider the idea because of the hassle, or the expense. They don’t want a team of builders drinking mugs of tea on their front doorstep for three days, nor the expense of having to re-mortgage their home just for a few extra feet of protection from the elements. Yet neither of these scenarios need be the case.

Admittedly there may be building companies offering that kind of solution, but thankfully we're in the twenty first century, with twenty first century materials and building methods which means that in most case entrance canopies can be fitted by a single person in such a short space of time that you'll barely have time to swill the tea bag around before it's done. As for the expense, when you see the final cost you may be forgiven for thinking that's just the deposit.

Firstly, you may be looking to sell your home, in which case - commiserations. Now isn’t the easiest time to be trying to sell a home, with house prices exceptionally competitive, huge numbers of properties on agents' books, and more sellers than buyers it seems. Trying to compete against your neighbours is now a common occurrence. Yet if your homes are very similar, many buyers will be making judgements initially based on the exterior appearance of your home.

A lick of paint, a wipe of the windows and a straightening of the curtains might make a little bit of difference, but there's no doubt that door canopies can make a home stand out against rival properties nearby. A door canopy makes a home look welcoming, inviting, and more homely. It presents the home as somewhere you'd be welcomed, and gives a good impression as far as kerb appeal is concerned. For the sake of a couple of hours and a small sum of money you could find your home catching the eye of more potential buyers than those nearby that are otherwise very comparable. In today's market, any edge is an edge worth pursuing.

If you enjoy entertaining at home, inviting friends and family over for meals, dinner parties, drinks or a chance for you to fleece them of their worth over a game of bridge, then you'll almost certainly have experienced that awful moment when a guest arrives and you're upstairs, half dressed or neatly ensconced in the smallest room. Of course, it's raining outside, and so you think of your guests, hopping downstairs whilst rapidly zipping yourself up, hoping that you haven't forgotten an essential item of clothing or got a length of toilet paper caught somewhere revealing in your desperation to spare your guests an extended drenching on your doorstep.

Door canopies and entrance canopies offer shelter from the elements, allowing your guests to arrive on your doorstep and be sheltered and welcomed even before they have rung the doorbell and interrupted your bathroom revelries. Indeed, having an entrance canopy may well save you either embarrassment, or an unexpected trip to the hospital where you try to explain how you managed to end up at the foot of the stairs still half dressed clutching one end of an unravelled roll of paper.

But whilst it may be very charitable to consider having door canopies or entrance canopies fitted for the benefit of potential buyers or your guests, it's also well worth considering the benefits for yourself. If you have ever arrived home, dashed to the door, delved into your pocket or bag with a confident flourish and found your key precisely not where you put it, then an entrance canopy may well spare you a punishing soaking whilst you investigate every pocket you possess in the hunt for the elusive key.
