Puffy nipples-or areolas/areolae in medical terminology-are one of the most common symptoms of the condition known as gynecomastia. The Greek language has given us thousands of medical terms and 'gynecomastia' is one of them. Therefore...
'gyne'= woman
'mastos'= breast.

This condition of female-like breasts or nipples can affect juveniles and adults, right up to the very senior amongst us and, I know from meeting individuals, young and not so young, that they are both embarrassed and concerned. As I say,I know this first-hand from my work as a Fitness Instructor as I have been involved right from suggesting that a guy to see his doctor to get a diagnosis thru' to working with a guy after diagnosis. Men, in general, do find it difficult to discuss their medical problems, let alone puffy nipples but it is absolutely necessary for any man with the condition of puffy nipples to get medical confirmation as soon as possible, so any encouragement from someone like me has to be good.

I can definitely say, to all you younger men, that 93% of you will see your problem go away naturally within 3 years or so. For the other 7% the cause of the condition can be discovered fairly speedily by your doctor. Your physician may decide on hormonal treatment and/or changes to your diet and even your lifestyle to cure those puffy nipples.

The conditionis caused first and foremost by an imbalance in 2 hormones, androgen and estrogen: the feminising hormone is estrogen and androgen is one of the hormones responsible for masculinity. In other words, the regular balance of the two is upset.

There are other possible causes for mature individuals:

Drugs and medicines which are prescribed for other problems may sometimes upset hormonal balance.

Hormonal equilibrium can also be adversely affected by regular use of anabolic steroids.

Marijuana abuse will also cause hormonal imbalance giving rise to feminine-looking breast tissue, usually under the areolae.

Consuming alcohol to excess will, over time, have feminizing effects.

Simply growing older can produce the unwanted result of gynecomastia.

There are other causes over and above those listed, some more serious. You can find a detailed list on 'The Best Chest Guide' website regarding the causes of puffy nipples.

The condition of gymecomastia can cause an individual to have poor posture, wear loose-fitting sweaters, shirts etc. in an attempt to hide the condition. Some will spend $100 to $200 dollars-or more- on compression garments worn underneath their clothes. A quick internet search will bring up dozens of such manufacturers!

Why part with hundreds or even thousands of dollars when you don't need to!

When all is said and done, most men seek to get rid of the condition, so I have investigated other alternative, drug-free solutions. I have evaluated many of these and include the best on my website, together with much more information for those individuals with the problem of male puffy nipples.
