All people sweat. It is a natural function of the human body to sweat or perspire. The body sweats as a way of cooling it down when it grows too warm. If you happen to keep active, then you can understand how much sweat is normal. You might be curious about what sort of relationship there is between sweating and this word hyperhidrosis. It is actually a term used to describe excessive sweating. As a medical condition, it refers to the excessive secretion of perspiration by the sufferer.

Hyperhidrosis patients can produce between four and five times the normal levels of sweat. In studies conducted by scientists, the number of people suffering the unpleasant and embarrassing consequences of excessive sweating may be in the millions. That means that about 3% of the global population suffers from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. The difficulty in learning more about this condition is that many who have it do not get it properly diagnosed. This means that many deal with the affliction without any relief for the symptoms. Unfortunately, these people do not get excessive sweating treatment.

Hyperhidrosis is disruptive and embarrassing for obvious reasons. It can have an influence of the quality of your relationships, your job, other social interactions, not to mention the emotional and psychological impact excessive sweating can cause. It shouldn't be surprising that many who deal with excessive sweating face severe self-esteem issues, even depression.

Having hyperhidrosis will mean that you have excessive sweating in the armpits, palms, face, feet, or other areas. If one or more areas is prone to this overflow of perspiration it may be qualified by terms like axillary (armpits), palmar (hands), plantar (feet), facial (face), or general which means that all areas of the body suffer from excessive sweating.

It is not uncommon for those who fail to receive excessive sweating treatment from a physician to do so out of feelings of embarrassment. It may be that they feel that heavy sweating can't be a serious enough problem to take to the doctor. This is wrong thinking. Hyperhidrosis is serious medical disorder, but, thankfully, there are excessive sweating treatment options.

Doctors who have studied the condition are still unsure about the root causes of hyperhidrosis but they have suggested that certain neurological and metabolic catalysts may be involved in most cases of excessive sweating, even when the person if otherwise in good physical health. Factors like emotional changes and temperature fluctuations have also been linked to excessive sweating, yet there are cases where temperature and emotions have little to do with an occurrence since suffers will sweat all the time. Some who have hyperhidrosis may even sweat during sleep.

If you learn that your excessive sweating problem is hyperhidrosis, you need talk with a medical professional about excessive sweating treatment options. Treatments for hyperhidrosis will rid you of the embarrassment caused by excessive sweating and improve your relationship and social interactions. By simply telling someone, you may regain control over your life and live a better, more fulfilled one while you're at it.
