Do You Have Trouble Falling Asleep?

If you are having problems falling fast asleep or staying asleep all night, you are not alone. Most of us go through periods of wakefulness at some point in our lives due to fatigue and stress and a complete overload of work. Merely put; we cram too much into each and every day.

Sleeping tablets are the simplest cure for insomnia but not always the best. This requires a visit using your physician and a recommendation; thus adding added tension to your already busy timetable.

Today, the developing tendency is to remain in touch and educated about all and by means of everyone all the time through mobile phones, the internet, 24/7 TV brainwashing etc. Centuries ago peoples lives were ruled by the seasons -- thus less tension and less restlessness!

In those days, while the sun went downward, got dark, you simply couldn't do something that required light so you went to sleep. Stage 5: REM (Rapid Eye Movement) Slumber - Dreaming Slumber - The corpse experiences rapid eye movements under closed eyelids, increased brain goings-on and deep muscle relaxation.

After Stage 5 sleep we gradually drift into a light slumber again and the Slumber Cycles repeat. One such Rest Cycle usually lasts about 90 minutes. It is quite difficult to awaken someone from a Deep Sleep and this Rest Cycle seems to be the single most key.

There seem to be disagreeing ideas on how much sleep we actually want by means of the researchers coming to the conclusion that somewhere between 6 and 8 hours of rest is normal; but there is quite a difference between individuals.

Also, as we change using age so do our requirements for slumber. So, the rule of thumb would seem to be that if you get up up refreshed, you have had enough rest! So have the remedies changed - some of the modern techniques include headphones and rhythmic sounds to harmonize the brain waves. Older remedies include ancient mind relaxation techniques such as meditation and yoga. It is thought that you can induce some very typical electrical brain wave activity by meditating your mind into relaxation.
