Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is an handicap that prevents children from focusing and standing still. It also often causes children to take a confrontational stance with adults and often leads to a lack of good results at school or worsening grades. This all contributes to create a negative environment that is hard to break out of if ADHD goes undiagnosed or if it is simply ignored and left untreated.

It has been proven that ADHD often muddles the child's perception of his own self and of self in relations to others. For instance ADHD can make a child believe all his well with his classmates when in reality they might feel resentment towards the child because of his ADHD condition which causes him to be aggressive and hyper active thus creating tensions with his peers. This can cause problems not only with their peers but also with their teachers and of course parents.

Not to sound too somber but ADHD children have been known to display greater chances to become addicted to alcohol or drugs in their later years. This is just another reason to treat a child with ADHD as soon as possible so that he can learn to overcome the condition and live a more normal life, both now and in the future.

They are also known to develop a distorted vision of self when it comes to their shortcomings. They often see and perceive themselves as being better than they really are at a given task or on the personal / character level. This false sense of self value so to speak here again can create frictions with others.

Consequently, it is difficult for kids with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders to form and maintain good and durable relationships with others. These relationships often suffer due to the difficult character of the child caused by his condition. This of course compounds the problem and children with ADHD shouldn't be left to become recluse and outcasts.

These children also have difficulties handling their emotions and putting a lid over them. It is frequent for them to blow into fits, which further deteriorates their relationship to others. They also show their anger in a more dramatic manner than other children which can make them appera as threatening or strange to other children.

Stress is alos dealt with in another fashion than other people. Like we said before children with ADHD have higher chances of becoming substance dependent than other children. The stress they experience in their daily life may find an outlet in substance abuse like cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. It is therefore important to guide the child towards healthier ways of venting his frustration and lead him either towards creative or physical activities, where he will be able to let out his aggression.

This difficulty to form relationships might also lead the child towards groups he shouldn't be associated with, having a bad influence on him. This is because the child with ADHD often craves the need to belong and the only people who might be willing to accept him might be people up to no good looking for a sidekick. This is why a strong parental structure is necessary with such a child to first give him the reassurance that he is loved and not alone and second to monitor the social life of the child and to step in and nip the issue in the bud if they feel the child is on a slippery slip. This article focused more on the negative aspects of ADHD but all is not this somber as there are treatments available and plenty of children manage to live successfully and live successfully despite having been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder.
