What this really achieves for you is a phased approach to forced fat burning. Your metabolism reacts to the lack of one nutrient by triggering its fat reserves. And then you suddenly readmit the missing nutrient into your diet by the time the fat burning has already kicked off. But before your body has the chance to "recover" and revert back to a "normal" metabolic rate, you must then phase out another nutrient, and your body will maintain its fat burning stage because it now has perceived the lack of that particular nutrient.

So in fact what you are doing is creating a cyclical fat burning mode, not because you are singularly cutting out carbs, or you are on a vegetarian diet, or a dairy diet, however because you are basically going through spurts of nutritional deprivation in small spurts, just long enough to cause fat loss, however not long enough to actually deprive you of the requisite nutrition that you require in order to keep up with a well-balanced diet.
