Face it we are all exposed to toxins in our daily life. There isn’t much we can do about it though. The toxins are found in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. However, we can fight the effects these toxins have on our bodies by eating as healthy as we can and doing a total body detox whenever we begin to feel sluggish.

So how do you know if you need a detox? If you have never detoxed before you are more than likely in need of one. Even if you have led a healthy lifestyle and eaten healthy foods, the pollution in the air and water has entered your system. Heavy metals from this pollution collects in your cells and body tissues. This makes your body feel run down and sluggish. You don’t perform to your full potential when your body needs to be cleansed.

In addition to feeling run down, having toxins in your body can lead to a variety of diseases. Illnesses from asthma to cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome to arthritis can all be caused by the toxins that enter our bodies through pollution and chemicals. By keep your body as free from these harmful substances as possible will help you lead a healthier life.

There are many different methods of body cleanse and you should try the one that suits you best. Some detoxing plans have you completely fast for several days, only drinking lemon water. This type of cleanse will allow your digestive system rest and heal if it needs too. In addition, the lemon water pushes through your cells and cleanses them from the inside out.

Other detox plans are based on eating a healthy and organic diet of fresh produce. By eating fresh produce that is organically grown, you will be taking nutrition into your body but you won’t be adding any more toxins. You can either eat the produce fresh, juiced or steamed. Some people choose to make a puree of the entire vegetable, skin and all, and make a fresh vegetable broth. They then drink this during the cleansing process.

How often you detox is up to you. Some people recommend a monthly cleanse and others suggest only a few times per year. It depends on your body and how you feel. Sometimes people get sick during the process as their body releases the toxins. If this is the case with you, detoxing more often can help lessen the sickness since you will be removing fewer impurities each time.

Cleansing your body from the inside out is a good thing to practice. Just like you keep your outer body clean, you should clean the inside so you can stay healthy!
