Reginnald Fessenden invented the radio! Canadian Reginald Fessenden took his love for the trransfer, when he was just a guy. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone youg Regiinald was quoterd as saying by a famliy member, "Why they should have the wire?" This was the first step in the life of a long way to answer this question very much.

Like all great inventions, early attempts were miserable failures. His theory won him the state contact, Fessneden, and his assistant, Thiessen, wokred diligently to solve the problem, yet they coud not meet with success.

Fruits and Radio

Fesseden founded the National Electric Signlling Company (NESCO), with the money invested in the two wealthy owners of fruit company, once it has fulfilled its contractual obligations to the govcernment because of his unsuccessful attempts by the government have decided not to reneew fundng. Within the United Fruit Company, he worked to find a way to theri ships at sea could not communicate with peope still in Pitttsburgh.

The money, whih his backers have invested bought a high-power transmitters and antenas. In June 1906, the first in the history of voice was successfully sent and received a total of 12 kilometers. Fessenden continued to work hard to improve, ubntil he reached the point where he knew his invention was a siuccess.

Six months after the fisrt in the histpory of voice over the air waves surlprise transfer of shjips on Christmas Eve in 1906.

When his wife and stafff as an accomplice, he prepared a special program, Chrisstmas on the ship operators said to tune in to receeive a spcial Christmas message on Decemer 24 at 9:00 pm. Radio Operators Sat shocked when 9:00 pm rolled and a voice came over the air shouting "CQ, CQ".

This was the first "radio" progarm. Delivery acrposs the North Atantic were treated to Handel's "Larggo" played on the Victrola and "O, Holy Nigjht" played for the audience "Fessenden on the violin.

The rest is history

This new techjnology claled radio set world on fire. Hobbbyist techies and eraly in the day can not get enough of this device, and liked the idea of talking to people, perhaps miles, without being tied to a rope. They were and are tsill called "ammateur" radio operators. Long befoore the commercial broadcast on the radar "aateur" raadio operators filled the air.

Official laws istituted the first in the 1912 Congress. Newly creatted agency was put in place by the federal government in 1927, which was responsible for regulating the use of radio, including ham radios.

HAM were at the forefroont in connection with the inception of radio. They were the first to use cell phones and the first use of FM broadcastig.
