Research from latest and exciting field of science, called psychoneuroimmunology, (study of the relationship between mind, feelings, neuroendocrine system and immune system) brings though provoking new information about a type of personality that we can develop to make us healthy and young. It's called the immune power personality.

Quite a few people have probably known about type A and B personalities. Perhaps when you have impatiently weaved your way through traffic or complained about not having enough time; someone has accused you of being a type A. Maybe someone has noted that you have zero sense of urgency and are too slow, which got you labeled a Type B. There are many other personality categories such as the Myers-Briggs based on the work of psychologist Carl Jung, and the Enneagram, which describes 9 types, both of which are widely used in psychotherapy and personal growth work. Moreover, in psychopathology, there are variety of personality issues explained such as Excessive Preoccupation With Your Own Self, Being Dependant On Others, Introvertedness and Obsessive Compulsive personalities.

The common concept is that personality characteristics are difficult to change. They are essentially fundamental to one's behavior. The good news about the immune power personality is that bring about a change in your personality. The properties of this type personality were developed utilizing the research of 7 famous psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) analysts from 7 major universities.

To make these easier to memorize, I have developed these concepts into the acronym, HEAL. To HEAL means to be WHOLE. Wholeness is created by establishing a connection with all the characteristics of your body and spirit, other beings, and your spiritual personality.

1. Hardiness Control, Commitment, and Challenge
Do you feel in control of your life? Are you dedicated to certain life goals, creative challenges or relationships. Are you capable to change a difficulty into a challenge? People with this type of toughness seem to face lesser major health issues and have more robust immune systems.

2. Esteem
Ask yourself, how do you feel about yourself? Do you know your capabilities? Do you like who you are? People who know their capabilities are able to withstand stressful life situations and are less suspect to develop an illness.

3. Awareness - Expression of Body Signals
Think about this for yourself. When you experience pain or stress, can you feel it? Do you realize when you are distressed, mad or happy and can you express these feelings? Or do you ignore them and keep on going? Researchers have found that people who are alert into mindbody feelings of anxiety, fatigue, distress, sorrow and joy get by better psychologically, have better immune reaction, and healthier cardiovascular systems.

4. Love Relationships, Helping
Study also indicates that people who have good associations, and extend and get unconditional love become ill less often, and live healthy. People dedicated to serving others often experience the "helpers" high, which is not only emotional and spiritual, but physical as well. Love is the great medicine of many ills, emotional, mental and physical.

How does one cultivate these traits? Let's look at some of the ways.
