Always carry a flashlight preferably a led spot light that can be used to signal your presence to other boaters that come near or to signal that you are in trouble. It is very important that you have the right fishing lights when you go night fishing for crappie. You will need proper lighting to hang over the boat and inside the boat and two coleman type propane lanterns or two good led lanterns would work well. One you will hang over the side of the boat so it illuminates the water surface and will attract insects, the other will be used inside the boat to change your riggings and baits. You should have a submergible underwater fishing light that uses florescent light and is powered by a 12volt power source like a car battery. Make sure the light has long leads that clip to a separate 12volt power source like a car battery, and has a long cord at the light so you can extend the light out across the water at about 3 ft from the boat before you drop the underwater fishing light under the water. These lights will increase your chance of having a good catch drastically because they attract plankton which attracts bait fish near you're your night fishing for crappie location.
