Contenders in 2010 Belmont Gambling

Among the competitors emerging in 2010 Belmont betting although Derby winner Super Saver and Preakness winner Lookin at Lucky will not be one of them.

Belmont gambling will probably be wide open with a number of horses having a reasonable opportunity to win.

The one horse left that could have wound up running in all three Triple Crown races was Dublin who is trained by D. Wayne Lukas. Why he may have competed in the Belmont is in question considering that he didn't have the staying power to run the distance of the Derby or the Preakness. Lukas officially publicized that Dublin wouldn't be racing the Belmont a short while ago, though, leaving hardly any star power in the upcoming match.

The favorite in the Belmont is probably to be Nick Zito's Ice Box who was 2nd in the Derby. He has the pedigree to go a lengthier distance and he is the probable choice on the Belmont Stakes betting board. The second place finisher in the Preakness Stakes was First Dude and he is going to the Belmont. He also may have the pedigree to run for a while and he could give Ice Box a fight.

Two other horses that could be in the mix in the Belmont are Bob Baffert's Game on Dude and Nick Zito's Fly Down. Martin Garcia rode Lookin at Lucky in the Preakness Stakes and because that horse is not going to the Belmont he will jockey Game on Dude. Fly Down won the Dwyer and he will have jockey John Velazquez in the saddle. He enjoys the Belmont Stakes and could be a threat, and the blend of such a spectacular jockey and Fly Down's exceptional trainer will make him a powerful competitor in the approaching race. The second place finisher in the Dwyer was Drosselmeyer and he is anticipated to give the Belmont a go for trainer Bill Mott.

Mott is most known for his work with Cigar, winner of the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year in 1995. With Mott as trainer and Jerry Bailey riding, Cigar won all every major in North America in 1995, like the Breeders Cup Classic and the Pimlico special. The next year he was the first winner of the Dubai World Cup. Ever since then, Mott has maintained his reputation as the best trainer for racing on turf in America.

Stately Victor and Make Music for Me are coming back from the Derby to run in the Belmont. Neither is probably to get much support in the Belmont. Yawanna Twist and Stay Put are two more longshots in the Belmont. Yawanna Twist was fourth in the Preakness Stakes but it is difficult to believe he might be a factor at a mile and a half. Stay Put does not appear to have the class to win this race. New Madrid for trainer Tim Ice who won the Belmont last year has been officially removed from the race with no reason offered.

As a result of a sluggish start this year, Ice has had some bad fortune. Owners K.K. and Vilasini Jayaraman transferred their stables away from Ice and to trainer Tim Ritchey, and now with New Madrid being withdrawn from the Belmont, it just does not appear to be Ice's year. Then again, in the brief time Ice has been professionally training thoroughbreds, he's had a few solid victories and his horses shouldn't be ignored.

Uptowncharlybrown and Setsuko are two wild cards in the Belmont. Both of them are capable of showing up in the board in the Belmont if they can cope with the distance.
