Computer Recycling

Read More About Environment

The environment agency is the governing body who control and manage recycling businesses in the UK and segment these into 2 categories. An ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) is a permitted business that is authorised to store & deal with WEEE in most cases, and an AATF (Approved Authorised Treatment Facility) that not only can store and deal with WEEE, but can handle Obligated WEEE (For example dealing with recycling for DELL, IBM, Toshiba direct, on their behalf) and is audited by the environment agency. Many of the larger corporate level organisations use AATF licensed recycling businesses, since many of which also have ISO standards and procedures in place. Computer Waste is an ICT (Information, Communication & Technology) recycling business, based in Oldham, near Manchester UK. Our purpose is to collect unwanted, surplus, decommissioned or faulty ICT equipment from any organisation, nationwide. We deal with 4 sectors of the UK market, including:-
· Schools, Colleges, Universities & Other Education based Authorities
· Private & Corporate Businesses
· Government Services including Councils, NHS, Fire, Police and Ambulance Services
· Other Miscellaneous organisations
Computer recycling is becoming a more and more apparent phrase in businesses today, as they endeavour to become affiliated with the ‘environmentally green’ association within their business ethos, especially after the education of reducing our carbon footprint. As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, Computer Waste (AATF) specialise in the refurbishment of redundant IT equipment, following flow processes and BATRRT (Best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques) to redeploy de-commissioned IT equipment back into the community somewhere, whether it be a school, or back into the general publics hands, this is known as ethical recycling. Our aim is to reuse as much equipment as possible. In the eyes of the environment agency, this is the most ‘environmentally green’ form of recycling, if it is being re-used, then that is one less item purchased from a manufacturer.

One other form of requirement from several organisations, including the NHS, is the requirement for a data destruction service, that be either wiping or fully destroying computer hard disk drives to the required standards. Computer Waste provides both IT recycling and data destruction services for many ‘security wise’ organisations such as the NHS, Police, Fire & Ambulance services to name but a few, where they require a secure process. Our wiping technology takes the disk drive and zero wipes (filled with zero’s) from start to finish. Given the specific hardware used to complete this process, the standard of procedure is to both NHS and US Dept Of Defence standard. Where a hard disk drive cannot be physically wiped (for example does not power on) then it is crushed using a disk drive crushing mechanism. Data destruction certificates are provided as a guarantee of proper disposal.

As a leading UK provider of secure & ethical computer disposal and data destruction services, Computer Waste is doing its part to help save our environment and make it a better place for everyone. Our 0% WEEE landfill policy means everything gets recycled one way or another, and nothing is exported overseas from within our company. Since we specialise in the IT arena, this keeps us focussed and committed on delivering the best available service to the customer.
