If you want to get rid of hemroids on a permanent basis, you first should understand their underlying causes. These causes vary from the incredibly mundane to quite exotic, encompassing both lifestyle issues and various health conditions. One thing they all have in common is that by eliminating as many hemroid causes as you can, your hemroids will bother you less or maybe even not at all.

The first and biggest cause of hemroids is constipation, with diarrhea coming in a close second. So, logically, the next question would be what causes constipation and/or diarrhea? A diet poor in fiber and water, a sedentary lifestyle without sufficient exercise and various forms of medication are the usual culprits. The anal area has hemroidal cushions, which are thick with veins. These cushions swell up and shrink depending on what the body needs. They serve as shock absorption and as indicators for when you need to evacuate your bowels. If excessive pressure from gravity or from the muscles of the abdomen are placed on the veins of the area, a vein wall eventually gives way and a hemroid is the result. That's why constipation and diarrhea are the most common causes. Constipation causes you to bear down hard, while both constipation and diarrhea usually have you sitting on the toilet for too long at a stretch.

Other causes include things that may cause the area to become inflamed. Whenever an area becomes inflamed it means that the area in question has filled up with blood. Repeated inflammation, again, may cause a weak spot in a vein wall to give way. Things that may cause the area to become inflamed include tight clothing, irritating dyes, perfumes or detergents and rough handling with the toilet paper or cleansers. Eliminate as many of these causes as possible by getting appropriate underwear and hypoallergenic detergent, such as is used for baby garments. Clean the area only with plain white unscented toilet paper and clean fresh water. Don't oversoap the area or use harsh alcohol based cleansers on it.

The rarest causes are related to other health conditions. Pregnancy, Crohn's disease, and irritable bowel syndrome can all contribute to hemroids. Hemroids from pregnancy will usually resolve themselves shortly after birth as long as all other lifestyle conditions are appropriate. Even so, eating a nutritious, high fiber diet with enough water and getting a doctor-recommended amount of exercise while pregnant will minimize the hemroids and their related discomfort as much as possible. Hemroids due to other long term health problems may not go away until those health problems are resolved, but the same principle applies. Do as much as you can to eliminate other causes and it will help with any you're currently suffering from.

If you're suffering from hemroids then you know how much it can interfere with your life. Find out as much as you can about your hemroids so you can get as much relief as possible right now and get rid of them entirely in the near future.
