There are a number of reasons that cause both printer ink cartridges and toner cartridges stop working. Most commonly are when remanufacturers place the wrong toner or ink within the the cartridge. You could assume that yellow toner is yellow toner, nevertheless there could be great variances, even despite the fact that the eye may not notice it.

Here's the common explanation of how a laser printer works -

Whenyou push the print button on the computer, it transmits a message to the laser printer informing the drum (a shiny magnetic tube or sheet) how much and where to put its magnetic charge.

Toner is magnetic. The drum picks up the toner and a transfer roller transfers it to the page that is rolling past it.

A fuser element heats then melts the toner onto the page.

Whilst this is the general process of laser printer toner printers, not all printers are made the same. Also, not all printers within the same brand are made the same. Different technologies plus efficiencies mean that the toner for one model may not be fitting for another. It will be magnetically attracted, or melt, at a different speed to another batch of toner of the identical colour.

Equally, ink molecules vary. Several inks are thicker than others, furthermore a few dry faster or slower pace. The heads in an ink laser printer get the message from the printer and discharge the correct quantity necessary. If the printer ink is not the one intended for the printer, it can leak through the top of the printer, onto the page, or on other components of the printer as it moves through the machine. In addition, it can block the print heads if it is very thick, rendering the laser printer unworkable.

Flawed laser printer ink or toner cartridges is likey to generate terrible results such as images that are ghosted onto the piece of paper, soiled imagery, toner that is not fused (and rubs off), paper jams plus lots of more troubles. This will result in both wasted time (replacing or reordering) and presentation.

If generic ink has so many potential issues, why is it so popular? The answer in the majority of cases is price. In Australia, resellers can sell almost any printer ink or toner cartridge in a generic version for up to 75% cheaper than the real printer ink and toner cartridges. Sadly many resellers have no idea whether the cartridges that they are selling have the right ink or toner. There are a couple of reputable distributors and resellers however and it is wise to check warranties before you buy. You should only purchase from resellers that offer you a hundred percent money back or a substitution guarantee.

Also, if you are considering buying compatible printer ink cartridges or toner to save money you may like to ensure that you havealternative up options to use (eg another printer ora friend who can print for you) in case of cartridge failures.
