As adults we know the signs when we are experiencing a Candida overgrowth, but what about our kids? Once they are out of diapers it is more difficult to monitor what is physically going on with them so we need to be aware of certain children yeast infection symptoms.

One of the first questions that is asked is how do our kids end up with children yeast infection symptoms?

You had probably noticed that your child is going through a phase where he may be a bit less well than usual. He may seem to have a constant cold, or just gets run down a lot easier. This is because the anti-bodies that he got from you are becoming less effective and his own immunity is starting to develop. This usually starts at around age 3. As a coincidence this is also the age that many kids start preschool or day care, so a whole new batch of bugs are being introduced into their weak systems.

As a result of this they may also suffer from certain fungal infections as their immune system struggles to maintain the balance of good and bad bacteria within them.

This is a completely natural process and the good news is that they actually need small doses of many of these bugs so that they have an immune system that is ready for anything! By around age 14 their immunity should be fully developed.

What are some children yeast infection symptoms?
Nasty rashes, a deep itch or a burning feeling are the usual symptoms that your child has Candida. Rashes are relatively easy to spot, but also be aware that they may have itching or burning sensations that they do not know how to tell you about. Sometimes the only sign is that they do not want to go to the toilet or they have their hands down their pants or hold onto their crotch a lot. Sometimes the only sign of a yeast infection is that they are grumpier than usual!

Sometimes if they have an infection in one area they also have it in another, so do not forget to look for children yeast infection signs elsewhere. Examples are;

Other signs to look for are;
An oral infection is indicated by white spots in the mouth, a white coating on the tongue, but the first sign that you may notice is that your child has really bad breath.
If they complain that their feet hurt ask for specifics. Chances are that they will end up pointing to their toes and you will see the tell tale cracks left by Candida.

Treating Children Yeast Infection Symptoms
All of the usually recommended remedies are fine. The most effective include;
Tea Tree Oil - Do not forget to dilute it really well!
Colloidal Silver - my favorite cure-all! Just spray onto the affected area.
Yogurt - make sure that it is unsweetened and natural
Garlic - make sure that it is crushed or freshly grated
Cider Vinegar

All of these are fine for treating the immediate children yeast infection symptoms, but at this age Candida is notorious for striking again and again so the most important focus needs to be on prevention.

Preventing a yeast infection in youngsters is difficult, especially from a hygiene perspective. While they do not understand the importance of wiping themselves properly, changing their undies regularly, eating a balanced diet, or the fact that having probiotics on their breakfast is actually really good for them, it is important to persevere so that eventually they do have an understanding hopefully without experiencing the full effects of Candida.
