This paper provides detailed account of my friend’s personal experience and analyzes how any social and psychological phenomenon present in the modern society can be viewed differently by different people. The personal encounter is first depicted, then relevant psychological concepts are provided and analyzed, and, based on those concepts we can see why people can view things differently. The experience described here deals with aggression, and this subject is quite controversial, allowing analyzing how views on the same events differentiate. I use my friend’s experience instead of my own as this would make me more comfortable writing this analysis.

My friend Tom first saw Angelica when he transferred to a new school couple of years ago. His parents moved to a new state and he had to go with them even though it was the last thing on his mind at the time. He was very upset and it seamed that the world came to an end without all his good friends and without all of the girls that he used to chat with all the time. He was very skeptical about this new school because it was an ordinary institution of the small town that could not be even closely compared to his former private school in a big city. He was in a less than satisfactory mood and didn’t plan to make friends or talk with anyone. Nevertheless, he had completely changed his opinion when he saw Angelica for the first time. She was absolutely gorgeous, stunning, a dream- girl for any teenager in the school. She was not in a hurry and he decided to take his chances straight away. She was a bit reluctant to communicate at first but then started expressing more interest.

It seamed that they talked for a few seconds only but more than half an hour has passed. She promised to see him after classes because they were in different groups and Angelica was in her Junior Year in High School. He couldn’t wait until the end of the day to finally have a perfect chance of talking to her. She was not alone when he approached her in the schoolyard after the classes were over. Two boys wearing the Varsity Jackets were standing and talking to her. “Who are you?”- boldly asked him one of those boys when he came closer to the group. “It’s one of my new friends, I met him today” - answered Angelica with a sweet shyness trembling in her voice. Tom was going to introduce him but the boys pushed him in the chest and he fell on the ground that very moment. They were kicking him with their feet and laughing at him. Tom was used to physical pain as he was in boxing for over 3 years, but he still felt very poorly due to the fact that they humiliated and physically abused him in front of the girl that he liked so much.
