Mine was a wood that came out of Africa, and it was a beautiful cherry color. The chess board was beautiful and I still have it to this day.

You don't even need to find someone to make you a desk out of a unique wood; there are places out there that have them made on already. Check out those places that deal in fantastic desks, not just your plain old average looking desk. Not that you can find anything wrong with those desks, but why not get something that is different?

Finding a desk that shows your personality and really adds a lot into your home office or business office. Something that will last and not have scratches all over it immediately. A desk that will hold up for years to come. Don't spend a lot of money and have a desk that two years later starts to fall apart.

You have specialty type desks that you can find, or you can go and find the plain old desks. Really in the long run the final choice will be made by how much you have budgeted for your desk. If you have a limited desk, you will have to go with something that may need to be replaced sooner than later.

However, really think of adding in a bit to that budget so that you can get a sturdy piece of workmanship. Even if you have to go with a used desk that is unique, but has lasted for years already. Possibly all you will need to do to revive that desk is to sand it and refinish it in the same or a different stain. Just don't limit your choices too much when you begin your search.

When you need to purchase a computer desk you will notice that there are many types to choose from and it can be very confusing. There are computer desks that fit in the corner and computer desks that are on wheels. Anything you can imagine. With the increase of the number of computers, the computer desk has become so popular and this has led to a lot of creative desks.

There are many things to look for in a computer desk. You need to make sure that there is a place for the keyboard, mouse pad, monitor and tower. These need to be in an ergonomic place. You don't want these items in the wrong place so it is hard to use your computer.
