Regardless whether you are a small business with only one computer system or a large enterprise with thousands of computer systems worldwide, there is no doubt that having integrated business backup solutions has to be extremely high on your must-haves list.

If isn't, it needs to be!

Based upon the nature of your file storage requirements, there exist business backup solutions appropriate for everybody. One of the most low-cost and low-overhead backup solutions available to you these days is instant backup over the Internet. As far as business backup solutions are concerned, this is an extremely low-cost and low-overhead option.

How it works is that a backup client is installed on each Windows desktop in your company that you require to have backed up. This client is extremely small and uses up virtually zero hard disk space and virtually no RAM. What this client agent software does is it continuously checks the system's local disk for any data files that have been added, deleted, or changed. It then immediately encrypts and sends a copy of the modified file across the Internet to an account on a remote backup facility that nobody but you have the ability to access, with a username and password.

Whenever you need to get to the information that you backed up, you can access these from a drive that has been connected to your PC in "My Computer". This drive map is connected to the remote backup drive. You can simply copy the files down to your hard disk on demand.

The other, more traditional approaches to business backup solutions have their limitations. They are a lot more costly. You have to bear the costs of purchasing backup media, paying for offsite backup media storage, transporting your backup media to a secure location. (If you are keeping your backups in your office, then you are leaving yourself vulnerable and exposed to the risk of complete loss of business continuity, if something were to physically happen to your primary place of business.) You have to hire staff to perform the manual tasks associated with backing up your systems every night. You also have to pay the licensing fees for the backup software solution that you wish to use.

In other words, a robust, traditional backup solution can run you in the thousands of dollars in terms of manpower, software licensing, hardware, and licensing fees. It makes much more business sense to use an Internet-based business backup solution. Your costs are miniscule incomparison, since all you need to pay is an annual flat fee per machine. The software, the manpower, the media, the data transfer mechanism, are all taken care of for you in the background automatically using software technology that securely backups your files to a secure backup facility across the Internet. And the data is complete secure since it is encrypted. Even if someone else were to get their hands on your data, they would not be able to use it, because it is encrypted.

It can't get any better than this!

Do not make the mistake of waiting until a crisis takes place to consider disaster recovery plans for your business. Risk management is one of the most important plans that every business needs to put into place. Insure your business with business backup solutions so that you may be assured peace of mind and insure your business against fiscal disaster.
