Build Traffic To Your Site

I have here some basic tips all websites can take advantage of.

1. Title tag. It's very important that the title tag define the key words the page is optimized for. The title tag at the most should have only the keyword and perhaps a couple of other words at the end of that. Do not make the title tag very long.

2. Meta tag. In the past, Google and Yahoo placed a lot of emphasis on meta keyword tags. Nowadays they do not look at those at all or consider them for ranking your site. It is still good, however, to have the meta description tag included in your page. These search engines will use your meta description tag as the description they display in their search engine listing.

3. Affiliate links. If your site will promote affiliate products, do not put many or any affiliate links on the new site in the beginning. It is best to fill the new site with content and only put the affiliate links on later after the search engines have had time to look at and index the page. If Google, for example, believes that your site is simply another affiliate site, they will penalize your site significantly, and it won't rank well.

4. Adsense. This is the same consideration that should be made for sites with affiliate links. There simply is no reason to put many adsense ads (or any) on your new page. If Google believes your site is a site made for Adsense, they will discount the site. They do not like sites specifically made for Adsense. Now you may be creating your site specifically for AdSense, but remember, you should include lots of quality and original content. The AdSense ads should come secondary.

5. Linking. Your link structure should be obvious and simple to recognize when the search engines spider the site. Most navigation systems are to the left or at the top of the page. Intra linking in the site should also be done within the body of the content. In other words, in the text, find sentences where you can link to other pages within your site. That is called intra-linking.

7. Simple Design. You only want simple web design. Nothing fancy is required. Don't do anything that's going to bloat the HTML code or cause any extra coding like flash or bloated java scripts. You just want basic and simple code the search engines can read easily.

8. The Trust Factor. This is very important. No matter what your site sells, offers, or promotes, when a visitor arrives they must feel a certain level of trust, otherwise they will simply hit the back button. The more you request of a visitor, such as getting their credit card out to make a purchase, the more trust you must build in that visitor. It's very important not to hype or even look like your site is just another spam site. Be real and personal.
