When you do an exercise ball ab workout, you can get benefits that you don't get with other gym equipment. In this article I tell you about ab workouts you can do with just a basic exercise ball and what the advantages are of these workouts.

1. Use the ball to support your lower back.

You can do basic crunches with an exercise ball and use the ball to support your lower back. When you do this type of workout, you have to avoid sitting on the ball and leaning back or you may find yourself on the floor and everyone around you laughing. Simply relax on the ball like you would on a high-cushioned sofa and lock your arms behind your neck. Then, lean back and bend forward just like you do with any other type of ab crunch. You can do about 10 or so of these in a set and then repeat. It will take time to get the hang of balancing on the ball during this ab workout but you will get good at it if you use your legs and hips to help you balance.

2. Use the ball to support your feet.

Lie on the floor and put your feet on the ball. Then, lift your upper body up with your abdominal muscles. If your legs won't stay together, you can cross your legs on the ball so they stay where you want them to. Don't allow your legs to roll off the ball. Focus your eyes on your knees so you stay centered when you lift your body in order to avoid a neck or back injury.

3. Use the ball with a chair.

There is an ab workout you can do with the ball and chair. With a small exercise ball, lie down on the floor with the chair in front of you and your legs on the chair slightly apart. Put the ball on your groin area and roll it up until it gets on your knees and then roll it back down. This is an ab workout you need to do slowly. If you move suddenly, you can end up injuring your abdominal muscles. Make sure you also breathe in and out slowly while doing this exercise.

4. Do the knee high ball workout.

The knee high ball workout requires you to have strong arms. The exercise ball should be about up to your knees. You need to get on your arms and knees with the ball behind you. Go into push up position and lift your legs onto the ball while your legs stay straight and your body is in a line. Keep your body in this position as long as possible. Then, bring one leg down at a time to rest. This will help you get a strong core.

What are the benefits of an exercise ball ab workout?

The exercise ball lets you do a variety of different exercises and also do the exercises in many different positions. You can slide on the ball or roll the ball on the floor. You can use the ball against a wall to strengthen your legs.

It will will help you increase your balance by using a variety of muscles instead of using just one muscle, something other equipment does not do. That way you will become more coordinated and have better reflexes. This type of ab workout is recommended by weight loss experts.

The equipment is simply a ball. It doesn't cost a lot but it will give you great results.
