The lineup in Belmont Stakes probabilities got slightly larger on Monday as trainer Todd Pletcher chose to enter Interactif.

The lineup is so poor that Pletcher had to take a chance, even though the turf specialist was not supposed to be inserted in Belmont Stakes betting.

Super Saver, who picked up the Derby this season, is also trained by Todd Pletcher. Pletcher became a trainer in December 1995 and landed his first win with Majestic Number in February of 1996 at Gulfstream Park in Florida. He set a record in 2005 when his stable earned almost $21 million in purses from 10 Grade 1 races in a single season. He beat his own record the following year when his stable received more than $27 million in purses. He had his 93rd win of the year in October of 1996, breaking yet another record for the most Stakes win in a year. Another mount he trained, Rags to Riches, became the first filly since 1905 to secure the Belmont Stakes in 2007.

Interactif is unquestionably a mount who might pull off the upset, even though Belmont Stakes probabilities won't prefer him. The mount was prepping for Friday's Grade 3 Hill Prince at Belmont so he is right on schedule to race. Interactif was a superb turf mount last year as he claimed the With Anticipation and Bourbon Stakes and he was a close 3rd in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

After Interactif looked superb going six furlongs in 1:14.29 at Belmont, Pletcher chose to enter the mount in Belmont Stakes probabilities. Pletcher wants to take a possibility since the purse is so substantial in the Belmont. It could possibly be that the contest is there for the taking since the Belmont doesn't include Derby champ Super Saver or Preakness champ Lookin at Lucky. There are some good mounts in the contest however including Nick Zito's Ice Box who was 2nd in the Derby and Fly Down who triumphed in the Dwyer Stakes. Zito has triumphed in the Belmont two times in the previous six years with longshot winners in 2004 with Birdstone as well as in 2008 with Da'Tara.

Another contender in Belmont Stakes probabilities should be Preakness runner-up First Dude. He ran genuinely well in the Preakness but was not able to hold off Lookin at Lucky. Derby fourth place finisher Make Music for Me is one more contender. He went 5 furlongs in 1:01.21 at Belmont for trainer Alexis Barba. After failing as a huge favorite, Dwyer runner-up Drosselmeyer might unquestionably get better. Other mounts in the growing Belmont lineup are Dave in Dixie who will be ridden by Derby winning jockey Calvin Borel, Game on Dude, Spangled Banner, Stately Victor, Stay Put and Uptowncharlybrown. In the previous few days Dave in Dixie and Interactif has been added to the lineup in Belmont Stakes betting, which looked like it will be 10 a week ago. The delayed additions might mean better prices if in one of the longshots happens to come through.
