Two of trainer Nick Zito's horses are favored in Belmont probabilities on Saturday.

Ice Box is the probable favorite while Fly Down will be the 2nd or 3rd choice in Belmont gambling.

Belmont Stakes probabilities should have a lineup of 12 horses on Saturday headed by Zito's duo. Ice Box is the horse that several people imagine to win the competition but Fly Down may be better suited to the competition with his racing style. Zito has had some success at the Belmont Stakes as he won in 2004 with Birdstone and in 2008 with Da'Tara. He has finished 2nd 21 times in the Belmont.

Zito started out his career as a hot walker. He became a trainer after he climbed his way up through the ranks. His first big win was with Thirty Six Red in 1990, which won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes and also finished 2nd in that year's Belmont. He won his first Derby in 1991 with Strike the Gold.

In 2005 he was inducted to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame after his stable earned over $8 million in purses. He also works for the humane and just treatment of horses in his spare time with his wife. He contributes to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and is a National Spokesperson and Honorary Director of the National Mount Protection Coalition.

Ice Box finished 2nd in the Derby behind Super Saver and he looked like he wanted to race further. He will get that shot in the Belmont. He is training fine as he had a bullet four-furlong training session in 46.65 seconds. Fly Down was only about as good in his last workout going a half-mile in 47.50. You never know how a horse will handle racing the mile and a half, but Ice Box and Fly Down appear to have the pedigree and the inclination to want to run that far.

Zito is used to having longshots in Belmont probabilities but that won't be the case this time around. Ice Box is the likely favorite and Fly Down should also have single-digit probabilities. Fly Down should surely not be discounted in this competition. He claimed the Dwyer Stakes and looked impressive doing so. The Dwyer was renamed as it used to be the Peter Pan Stakes and that was the essential prep competition for the Belmont.

Belmont Stakes probabilities won't have a lot of big names but the lineup keeps growing. It now seems like a lineup of 12 horses will go to the post on Saturday. Ice Box will be the favorite but there will be other contenders including Fly Down. Preakness runner-up First Dude is the horse who is probable to have single-digit probabilities. He ought to get some focus based on his good performance behind Lookin at Lucky in the 2nd competition of horse racing's Triple Crown. After the top three, it could be a bunch of longshots in Belmont gambling.
