Beauty Queen Terrorists

This shocking latest news article is about 2 (and probably more) teenage girls (pictured in their "Beauty Queen" poses) who were working in a nursing home and abused some of the elderly patients living there:

http://www.albertleatribune.com/news/2008/dec/01/breaking-charges-filed-good-sam-case/

And this is an excerpt from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism :

"Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.[1] There is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism.[2][3] Most common definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants."

So how did I jump from some teenagers abusing some nursing home patients to making comments on Terrorism?

Because of the sympathy I feel for those defenseless, half-witted (more or less half witted and which is probably not the politically correct term for the demented or Alzheimer) elderly patients (who could be me later on in my life or maybe me now?)!

And because of the sympathy I almost feel for those half-witted (more or less half witted and which is probably not the politically correct term for those socially demented) teenagers!

And I suppose I should feel sympathy too for the parents and siblings of these teenagers as they too are now subjected to this legal drama. And how about some sympathy for the children and spouses of the elderly patients who have been abused too?

Beyond my sympathies is my thinking that abuse is just another form of terrorism as both promote the use of fear to control and "deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants." Like child abuse! Like spousal abuse! Like this case of elderly abuse! And isn’t abuse and terrorism both just other words for violence?

So what can we do about the abuse/terrorism/violence we know is all around us? I don't believe just saying these acts (and abuse actors: parents, spouses, care workers, terrorists) are morally wrong is enough. Of course not, as just talking is not resolving anything. And just knowing (as in "Know Your Enemy") is not enough either as there is no action. So what is the call to action?

We fight domestic (as in the home and/or non-international) abuse and violence with education, laws, law enforcers, judges, juries, and the penal system. According to this article about these two and more teenage elder abusers, they may end up in jail for a year! And while traumatic as that would be upon their lives (and upon their parents and siblings too), that, or more likely a probation period is probably what will happen and is the right thing to do!

But how can you apply this same principal of justice Internationally when, according to our Wikipedia definition, "There is no[t even an] internationally agreed definition of terrorism"? And there are certainly no International laws against terrorism as there is no International organization capable of making any such laws and certainly no universal cooperation between all nations to end terrorism (as some nations seem to support, promote, and/or use terrorism to control their populations)!

So here is what I have been thinking lately as a "Call To Action":

1. Rename the “United Nations Organization” to “United Free Nations” Organization.
2. Make the membership for nations wanting to join based upon a standard of human rights (freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of and from Religion, open elections, etc) that nation endorses within their nation and for all peoples.
3. Kick out those nations who will not subscribe to these principals of human rights.
4. Give this organization the power to make United Free Nations laws against terrorism, against drugs and drug running, against slavery, and against the rest of the human evil behaviors.
5. Give this organization the police force and power necessary to enforce these laws (combining all the individual free nation’s armies into this United Free Nations Police Force).
6. Give this organization a judicial branch (United Free Nations Court) to judge the merits and actions of the law makers and law enforcers.

Now that I have solved (or given out a plan to eventually solve) the ills of the world, I have to get back to work.

P.S. You may pass this along as who knows what plan will work until we take action to create a viable plan?
