You may have heard of eyes being referred to as the windows to the soul. That is because of how much they communicate. Your eyes grace your face with energy and individuality. They don't have to be a particular size or shape to be considered pretty, all eyes have their own unique beauty. When makeup gets applied to look natural it will highlight the eye's true color and enhance their beauty. When you feel satisfied about your makeup you'll be more confident and will have one less thing to be concerned with.
A gentle application of eye liner, shadow and mascara come together to create magic and make your eyes look the best they possibly can.

Eye Shadow
Eye shadow should highlight and define your eyes. It is used to bring depth to the eyes. A dark color used on your lid will make your eye look smaller and a lighter color will make it look larger. That's why we use eye shadow, to create illusions. Here are the basic techniques for the different eye shapes:
Small eyes: Never use too much shadow or liner, it will make your eyes look smaller. Apply a light color on your eyelid, use a darker color in the crease and use a highlighter under the brow.

Large eyes: Wear darker shadow on the lid up to the crease. Use a flat color under the brow for highlight.

Deep set eyes: Apply light colors on the eyelid and under the brow. Apply a medium color in the crease. Emphasize the outer corners with shadow.
Wide set eyes: Apply darker colors on the inner corners of the eye.
Hooded eyes: Use light colors on the lid. Apply darker colors from the center of the lid to the outer corners and blend.

Round eyes: Make round eyes longer by applying color all around and extending toward the outer corners.

Asian eyes: Use highlighter under the brow. Apply light shadow on the inner half of the lid and a darker color on the outer half.

1. Light colors make the eyes open, dark colors will make the eyes recede

2. If your skin is very light avoid dark shades

3. Be careful with shimmer, it will bring attention to imperfections and wrinkles.

4. The eye area will be the first area to show age so don't tug on the skin.
Eyeliners:

Eyeliners are used to define the eyes so make sure they do just that, don't make them the focal point of your makeup. Eyeliners come in huge varieties of colors and forms like liquid, pencil etc. Keep your eyeliner natural. Pencils are available in a variety of colors (for the best look stick to black or brown) and can be sharpened for a fine line. To achieve a smudged effect use a sponge tip shadow applicator or an eye shadow brush. If your pencils are too soft, you can refrigerate them. If they are too hard you can soften them by holding them between your fingers.

To line your eye, start on your lower lid, just underneath the lashes. Once you are finished always smudge the line with your sponge. Stay as close to your lash line as possible. On the upper lid, draw a line from the inner corner to the outer corner, thicken the line toward the outer corner. After you turn 40 keep the line in between the lashes.

Create Beautiful Lashes With Mascara
Mascara is used to frame your eyes and has the ability to make your face come alive. Mascara softly accentuates the eye while it darkens and thickens the lashes; it's your finishing touch for the eyes. There are many brands and kinds to choose from, thickening, and waterproof to smudge proof. Waterproof uses a special remover and smudge proof usually washes off easily. It's not a great idea to wear waterproof mascara for long periods of time since it will usually dry the lashes.

Select a shade of mascara that complements your coloring the best. Dark shades on pale eyes with brown lashes will darken them too much and will look to severe. Stay away from blues and other colors for obvious reasons.
Lashes that are difficult to curl might need the help of an eyelash curler. Curl the lashes before you apply mascara.

To apply mascara look straight into your mirror with your chin slightly lifted so you can see your lashes. Insert the wand only once and twist, don't pump. Pumping will break the brush bristles and distribute the mascara unevenly causing it to dry out faster. Begin by rolling the wand from root to tip in an upward motion. Repeat. If your eyelashes are thick and long they may clunk together. Two thin layers is all you need. Don't overdue it.
