By being handier than other dental tools the dentist can easily prepare cavities with this. The reason behind the need for constant trips to the dentist for cavity control was that these efficient tools were not available before. Trips to the dentist will no longer be an agonizing experience improving people's perceptions. Keeping teeth clean is something people may begin taking more seriously and in this sense encouraging people to visit their dentists can significantly reduce the possibility of early tooth loss. To be able to maximize the lifespan of teeth a person needs to regularly maintain them.

From their tools to their techniques dentists during the early years of dentistry had nothing but crude ways to prepare cavities. Gouges and chisels were the main instruments of the dentist. Dental instruments were not as advanced when dentistry was first practiced but they did have a drilling tool and this was the finger drill and it was in a ring that the dentist would wear on his finger. When the civilized world a few centuries back experienced dental practice one of the most common dental instruments they were exposed to included the jeweler's bow drill. Without a bow it would be difficult to use this tool since the bow is needed to turn the handle bearing the drill. Generating the necessary power started from looping the bow string around the handle.

Ultra high speeds result to efficiency but there are areas in the practice of dentistry that do better without these. Dental practitioners benefit from having high speed instruments when they do cleaning, polishing, and removal work.
