Are You at War With Your Diet?

If you answer the above question as a yes, then you might as well stop dieting now.

You might think that dieting is only about losing weight or losing fat.

You might also think that only your body is affected.

However, there is much more going on than you might realize.

Let’s look at the other aspect of trying to lose weight.

This is the mental aspects and your essence (also called spirit).

If you are not into your diet mentally or if there is some aspect of your essence, personality or psyche that is not totally on board with you losing weight, then your attempts at weight loss will fail.

I’ll give you an example.

A friend of mine is overweight and he has gone on a few diets and lost a bunch of weight, only to gain it all back.

His wife (who was not overweight) decided to hire a nutritionist for him. The nutritionist got it all wrong.

She talked to him about the nutrients in his food. How much protein, carbs and fats he should eat and when.

Now this guy is pretty smart and he could spout off exactly what he was eating and the breakdown of the nutrients.

She put him on a diet, but she didn’t take into account anything other than the physical aspects of dieting.

He wasn’t happy. He liked to eat, drink and smoke.

So he tried the diet and he was pretty strict on it for a few days. (We were working on a job out of town.)

But, he kept seeing me and one other guy on the trip, eating anything we wanted while he was chomping on his salad.

Once the job was done, we went out to celebrate and it was so easy for him to say, what the heck.

So he had a few beers with his ribs and fries and that diet was history.

The reason it was so easy for him to undo all of that effort before was because he wasn’t into the diet from a mental or essence standpoint.

He didn’t like being on a diet. He didn’t like watching us eat anything we wanted. He didn’t like not having a beer with his meals.

And he wasn’t doing it for himself. He was doing it for his wife.

In other words he was at war with himself. He was not congruent in his wants.

He was fighting himself every step of the way. And when something minor happened (the end of the job) he was ready to use that as an excuse to celebrate.

So what is your excuse? If you have gone on and off diets there is a reason for it.

Part of that reason is because you are not congruent in your desires. Your physical, mental and essence are not in alignment. So you are fighting yourself.

That makes it impossible to stay on a diet for any length of time.

It really doesn’t make any sense for you to even go on a diet until every part of you is ready. Find out more about how to become congruent by clicking the link below.
