The anti Candida diet can be confusing and testing.

Many begin the diet enthusiastically, but soon get despondent when the realise how little they are allowed to eat.
You may find that there are several programs to follow but they have differing opinions as to what you may or may not include in your diet e.g. carbohydrates, dairy and nightshade fruitscould or could not be acceptable.
Hence there is no defined 'Anti Candida Diet'. The only thing we can do is to remove the foods that the Candida fungus thrives on from our diet.

Some programs take it one step further and remove all foods that we could be sensitive to as well – so a large part of your success on the diet comes down to how far you want to go with it.

Tip 1 - Stage one of an anti Candida diet
Stage One is the first two to four weeks of the diet and is pretty tough to get through. All foods that contain dairy, mold, sugar, carbohydrates, gluten, preservatives, wheat and starches need to be removed from our diet.
To put it simply – all you are allowed are leafy green vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, celery, cucumber, zucchini, silverbeet, peppers, chicken, fish, omega oils, nuts and seeds.
Tip 2 - Maybe foods for an anti Candida dietThe confusion really begins when some sites say that it is OK to eat fruits that are low in sugar like pears, green apples or berries. Other sites say that these are not alright, but whole grains like millet and amaranth are. Cottage cheese and natural yogurt are two which are often argued over at this stage of the diet.
The best advice here is to go with what you feel is OK and do your best. If you get any reaction whatsoever from anything then immediately stop eating it for two weeks.

Tip 3 – Start a food diary
During an anti Candida diet we end up taking so many supplements and introducing so many foods that a food diary is really handy just to keep track of it all.

Tip 4 – Reintroducing foods
The trick here is to do it really slowly – one serving of one food once a day. Note any reaction – even a raised heart rate counts as a negative – and remove any food that you react to. These can be tried again in another two weeks.

Tip 5 – How to handle cravings on an anti Candida diet
There are many things that can cause food cravings, from hormones, mineral imbalances, blood sugar levels and Candida.

The easiest thing to do here to decide whether a craving is a need or a want is to wait five minutes before giving in to it. Usually a craving will be gone by this time.
