Anti-Aging Hormones - Are They as Effective as They Claim?

The debate still rages as to whether anti-aging hormones are as effective as they are claimed to be. For many years women were told that hormone replacement therapy was perfectly safe. But then there would be a cancer scare or some other reason that it should not be taken, or that it should be taken in a different manner, so in the end it was all very confusing. Some doctors loved prescribing it; others refused to do so.

In recent years it has been discovered that much of the problem with HRT stemmed from the fact that the replacement hormones of estrogen, testosterone and progesterone were synthetic and so did not match exactly what our bodies used to produce. Our bodies could tell the difference, even if we couldn?t.

While phytosteroids occur in abundance in living plants, drug companies can?t patent it because it is a naturally occurring substance. And with no patent there is no money. So they manufactured synthetic products that were similar, but not quite the same. They made lots of money, but caused untold suffering in the process, which seems to be the general way of the world when money is involved.

Another problem was found to be that estrogen has three parts to it; estrone, estradiol and estriol - all in a delicate balance. If one is supplied without the others then that balance is destroyed, to the detriment of the body. Estriol is the cancer preventative and the two others, whether administered together or alone cause cancer if Estriol is missing.

Another problem was rectified when it was discovered that estrogen administered without progesterone to balance it also causes cancer. The two should always be taken together, whether the estrogen is synthetic or natural.

The trouble is, when a woman?s body stops making those hormones mentioned, the results are often less than pleasant. There can be hot flashes, irritability, depression, mood swings, night sweats, forgetfulness, loss of concentration and irritable bladder problems among others. Needless to say, many women are willing to try something for relief, even if there are some risks attached to it.

Once the product completely matches that which the human body used to make, and the balance between each one is maintained, then not only are unpleasant problems alleviated, but risk dives to zero. In this case, HRT is most beneficial, with the body rejuvenated in many ways that resemble youth. Not the least is an increase in libido with painful intercourse due to vaginal dryness a thing of the past, not to mention all those other problems mentioned.
