Antarctica's Little-Known History

Antarctica is a one of a kind land that is both beautiful and brutal. It remains the only continent in the world that has never seen the face of war. Even so, this single continent dwarfs both America and Europe combined. Due to it's harsh conditions, no germs can survive leaving men to die more to violent deaths than to natural.

This is a very unique world for that fact that men of countries that would not otherwise get along are working in harmony. There interactions are warm and comforting, even though just outside the walls the temperature gets to 100 degrees below zero, which could freeze their blood in just a few short seconds. People who live in Antarctica never need to worry about gaining weight. They can consume four hearty meals a day and never gain an ounce. This is do to the fact that the extreme cold uses up more calories than the body could on any diet.

Since the sun hardly ever sets in the summer, residents often suffer excruciating insomnia, as the lack of nighttime leaves them unable to sleep while the sun is shining bright at 3 in the morning. Where else, other than Antarctica, would you find the most elite club on the planet, the "300 Degree Club?" Even though Antarctica has the cheapest bars in the world on the South Pole, where no matter what your drinking be it top shelf or simple beer, it's all the same price. But a single night of drinking can be a massive bill. From the month of April through December, the nights become endless.

Even though bulk of land mass of the Antarctic sits beneath 9,000 feet of ice, geologists believe the deposits of gas, coal, and oil contained there would heat the entire planet. Its laws, or lack thereof, are so strange that a fugitive could not be extradited and any criminal has almost nine million square miles of terrain ranging from open spaces to mountain ranges in which to conceal himself, should he be fortunate enough to survive more than a couple of hours in the most adverse climate known on earth.

Antarctica's crime rate is the lowest of all the continents, but there are no governing statutes. Even if a murder had been preformed in Antarctica, it has not once been prosecuted, so who knows exactly what happens there. No international laws or treaties are in place to stop a murderer, anywhere on this vast land.

While 10 nations have flags flying over this amazing continent, no nation calls any of the continent's real estate its own. Not a single country or nation has even attempted to try and make a permanent colony here on these primal lands. Ironically, these primal lands have some of the most technologically advanced pieces of equipment.

Also, the majority of it's short-time residents give it the reputation of the highest IQ per capita of anyplace in the world. There is no other place on Earth were more people have a university degree than a high school diploma. Not only does it have more talented scientists than most universities, it continues to be the center of more peaceful R & D studies than most world capitals. Unlike any other landmass, there are strict regulations that prevent any nuclear testing or nuclear bomb explosions.

The laws that govern the environment of Antarctica are the most rigid in the world. Because of the slaughtering that both sealers and whalers did nearly a century ago, you need a special type of licenses in order to kill animals. In today's world, Antarctica is the scientists' paradise, they all work together to do what they can to maintain this pure continent.
