The new-and-improved ski resort in Meribel now has 11 green runs, 33 blue runs, 21 red runs, and 9 black runs, all of which are well-maintained and never lacking snow. In addition, the center has 2 Olympic runs, one slalom stadium, and 2 snowboarding areas, so skiers and snowboarders of every skill level will be kept busy on the slopes. Also, standing in line is not a very common activity here, since the run network here is easily accessible by 200 lifts. Thus, skiers get to spend more time where they really want to be: on the slopes!

To also spend excellent time off the slopes, the Altitude Festival, taking place this year from March 28th to April 3rd, is definitely the place to be! It is the only bilingual (English and French) comedy festival in Europe, and it presents British, French, Canadian and American comedians. Also featured are the best DJs and musicians, both locals and of international renown and, to take advantage of the location, pro skiers and boarders also showcase their stuff. The Altitude Festival aims to be a carbon neutral event this year and, if it is and entertaining event, one of its goals is to raise awareness about global warming.

The Altitude Festival takes place in a unique village landscape, the ski facilities and well-designed accommodations are perfectly integrated into the village atmosphere. This is very different from the crowded areas packed with building and facilities common in many French resorts. Meribel has avoided such eyesores by sticking to wooden buildings in the style of chalets, which even feature porches, and by raising its walkways for the ease of its visitors. All things considered, Meribel is known as one of the most fashionable ski centers in the Trois Vallées.

The town of Méribel is mostly frequented by English-speaking guests and English, not French, is the language most commonly heard spoken around town. For holidaymakers who are looking for a genuine French ski vacation, this lack of French ambiance constitutes the town's major drawback.

Méribel is not the cheapest French resort but fortunately, there is still something for everyone. After all, even the skier with the smallest budget needs a place to crash after spending a great night at the Altitude Festival. The Méribel hotels are not on the cheap side but families might get tempted by the half-board or full-board option. Just like in other French resorts, many residences are also found in Méribel, offering self-catered apartments of all sizes and at significantly lower prices. And if you are looking to dine out, Meribel's restaurants serve French and international cuisine and there is something for everyone.
