In this article I’m going to teach you a step-by-step example of affiliate internet marketing using ad and affiliate networks – to have a better idea of the concept. In my example I’m gonna use Commission Junkie (affiliate network) and Adbrite (Ad network). A whole lot of things can be different with another networks, but when you get the concept you will be just fine learning the best way to do it repeatedly in different networks. So let’s start! First visit cj.com. Click “publishers” and then on “Apply for a Commission Junction publisher account”.

Then fill the forms, click on the confirmation link within your welcome mail. Once you log in click on the “Get links” button which is located at the menu on the top, right bellow the emblem of CJ. Now you're able to see the categories of sites listed. You're able to choose a category or you can press find without typing anything inside the search box, and you will see a listing of the many offers.

You can see that the table is split by columns and at the top of every column there is “Advertiser”, “3 month EPC (USD)”, “7 month EPC (USD)”, “Network Earnings”, “sale”, ”lead”, “click”, “Status” and “category”. You are able to click every of these words to list the many offers by whatever criteria you want. For example you need to see which offer pays more per sale – you only click on “sale”. “Network earnings” is very important criteria so I suggest you check it for each product/service you wish to promote. If there isn't any green within the boxes you'll know that this product just isn't performing well, so in case you are a beginner you shouldn’t start with it. After you choose a product, click its link.

Now you may see the whole set of details about the program you have selected. Read carefully because here is the information that could help you out or get you screwed. If everything is in order and the program you selected fits your goals and desires fully you need to click on “apply to program”. Many of the programs are set to auto-approve you, but they are also programs that require a manual approval so if that’s the case you'll have to wait a day or two. Don't forget to check the respond often because not all of the programs will notify you by mail especially if they deny your access to the program. After you are approved get back to CJ click again on “get links” and this time choose “By relationship” from the drop down menu. Now you are able to see all of the programs you participate in.

click on the “view links” link (right next to the product info link) and choose a banner or a text link. When you select the ad you like the most, click it and then click on the “get html” button on the bottom of the new window that have appeared. Now you can see a “code” box again in the bottom of the page. That's the whole banner code so if you have a web site you will need the entire thing, if you are going to promote the product directly without a web page of your own like I’m will demonstrate now you simply need the link. You will see something like this on the very first row: . You need just the link (the text included in the quotes) which can be htp://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3831394-10572178. (NOTES: you should copy and paste it without the quotes; this is an example – your link could look very different, but for sure will have htp://www.site.domain/referralnumber). You need the image file for the banner as well. So go with the mouse pointer over the image, right click over it and choose “save image as” from the menu. We are half way there! Time to advertise!
