Adventure Holidays In Menorca

Menorca holidays can be culturally stimulating. The mountains in Menorca house ancient, ruined buildings and abandoned monasteries which give some indication of the conflict the island has seen in the past. However, holidays in Menorca can be much more active than just spending lazy days by the pool or on the beach. There are plenty of activities to keep groups of friends and families stimulated, as well as showcasing various attributes of the island.

Surfers will also find a number of great locations on Menorca. The seabed conditions, consisting of deepwater reefs and shallow sand bars mixes perfectly with the weather conditions to create some of the most spectacular surf in the area. This pursuit is a perfect family sport and suitable for surfers and non-surfers of all ages. There are a number of surfing schools dotted along the coast, where beginners can try the sport for the first time or seasoned surfers can hire the latest equipment.

While surfers may be having fun on the water, a whole group of other adventurers are having fun below it. Because the waters are so clear and temperate, with a visibility depth of around 30 metres, there are fantastic opportunities for divers to observe the abundance of marine life in its natural habitat. In addition, the reefs and sandbanks that serve the surfers so well are home to many sea creatures and there are even underwater caverns to be found at the base of the Menorcan cliffs. Diving schools are plentiful in Menorca and cater to divers of all abilities. Complete novices may find themselves undergoing immersions in swimming pools before taking part in supervised dives. Hardened enthusiasts can look forward to exploring the deeper water.

Sailors also enjoy the opportunities in Menorca.

Taking a trip on a multi-hull boat is a wonderful way to get the whole family involved in a thrilling adventure. Because of the design of the hull, a catamaran is capable of achieving high speeds, although it can travel at a more serene pace. Charter hire companies often provide tuition to those who may be a little unsure of the procedures involved. For those who enjoy fishing there are also options for day boat trips with a local guide to the favoured deep water spots.

There's nothing like the feeling of getting back to your villa and relaxing after an energetic day on the trails or waves. Groups and families who want to pursue an active holiday may find the mealtime schedules of most hotels restricting. There is little worse than returning hungry to your home from home, only to discover that the kitchen is closed. However, Menorca is well served by an increase in the number of luxury Menorca villas available for hire to groups and families, offering a base where you can dictate meal times and rest times.

Taking the villa option as opposed to hotel accommodation is not the no-frills option is once was. Not only do they offer privacy and seclusion, but they also offer a closer view of the Menorcan community so that visitors can immerse themselves in local life as much or as little as they want. Luxury villas now typically offer air condition accommodation and usually a private pool, allowing guests to cool down from their exertions at their leisure – and with no other holidaymakers around. Families and friends can choose to self-cater – a fantastic option for those with allergies and intolerances – or eat out at local restaurants and bars. While having the right environment to enjoy yourself in is vital, so too is having the right environment in which to relax.
