Power gained from the sun is called 'Solar energy'. Our sun gives of light and heat and is a huge source of energy. Several civilizations of the past and a few society groups still present today regard sun with profound respect and affection. Sun was even worshiped by the ancient Egyptians as Deity. Sun is certainly worth the respect as it is an old and infinite source of energy. Thus, there are countless advantages for using sun energy.

Each day the beams radiated by the sun journey through the earth's atmosphere providing light, energy and heat. We have been seeing this phenomenon for billions of years yet it is only recently that we have began using this bounteous and free source of limitless power. The advanced civilizations of the past have been able to tap the sun's energy to heat by focusing it's light.

Sun is a clean source of energy, unlike the non-renewable energy which are being exploited today like gasoline, leave behind debris and harmful gases when used to produce energy. The energy generated using sun light leaves no residues or harmful gases which helps in a long way in the conservation of the environment.

The sun has been bringing us sunlight and renewable energy for the last four, five billion years and is estimated to continue doing this for the same amount of time. That's enough for our lifetimes and many future generations to be born. Each dawn, the sun comes out and then gone for the evening while it provides its far reaching benefits to other half of the world. This extreme reliability of sun makes solar energy such a useful form of power. Considering the sun is shining in full glare, you can utilize the sun's energy to either store it for future use or exploit its energy in a distinct manner.

The amount of energy that can be extracted from the sunlight is limitless. If successfully harnessed, the amount of energy radiated by the sun in few minutes can solve power issue of the United States of America for an entire year. All the world's energy crisis can be solved if we are able to harness the immense energy of the sun.
