To learn about Acne Treatments one of the first things you need to accept is that dirt does not cause acne. Although keeping the face clean may help pimples to occur less frequently, and lessen the severity. Keeping your face clean will NOT totally get rid of acne. We have all seen pictures of the kid with a filthy face. We've all seen that child. That child has skin as beautiful as a newborn's after the dirt finally gets cleaned. If dirt caused acne, that little kids face would be covered with blackheads.
Now if you have pimples, or get acne, it is important to keep your affects area very clean. But just using soap and water may be a mistake as far as helping treat pimples or while you are having an outbreak. Your face needs a good cleansing. This cleansing should concentrate on other problems besides dirt.
First you should thoroughly wash your hands. It is important to clean under your fingernails really good. This cleaning will help remove germs and bacteria. These germs and bacteria are what you don't want on your skin. As you anyone that has ever watched a small child knows to well that hands can, and do get filthy. Now you probably do not have visible dirt on your hands, but your hands may very well have pollution, and most surely germs.
The second thing that you need to do is to tie your hair to keep it out of your face. Hair, especially longer hair, waves in the air all day. Have you ever walked through a smokey area where the air was just filled with smoke. It was very uncomfortable to breathe and your hair felt dirty after you exited the area. Well even if you washed your hair this morning, it still picks up a lot of germs, chemicals and smells by noon. Just think of all the people that have coughed near you in the last 2 hours. Think of the bathroom where someone sprayed too much deodorizer, or the bus that bellows smoke as it drives by. The 5 cigarette smokers you passed on the street. All of this adds up and right now your body is already trying to fight an acne outbreak. There's no reason to give it anything else to do by adding more work.
The next thing is to wet your face with warm water. Make sure not to use hot water as it can make your face dry out causing even more problems. Then apply the soap, or preferably a facial cleansing product as directed in the instructions. Never use more or less of the product than is recommended.
Without using a cloth, apply the soap using only your fingers, gently massage the soap onto your skin. Use a slow circular motion and go all the way to the hairline with the soap. Make sure you do an extra good job in the areas of your face where you most often see zits. Don't rub hard as it can damage your skin opening another place for an infection to get a foothold. Massage the soap in very gently.
Next, rinse the area thoroughly. Do this by splashing your face with warm water. Don't rush this. It's very important that you rinse the area thoroughly. Do this until all traces of the soap are totally gone.
Then pat your face dry. Don't just throw any old towel up there and start rubbing. Be gentle. Pat your face dry with a fresh washed towel. Remember, not to rub your face. And so you don't reinfect an area, or another area, always use a clean towel. Experts recommend that you never use a towel more than one time before washing it.
Then allow your face to air dry. This also allows your skin to breathe. Do this for at least 15 minutes. Enjoy the cool refreshing feeling. Then after 15 minutes you can apply a moisturizer or acne medications.
Acne is not the end of the world, although some days you will think so. With consistent, persistent effort you can get rid of acne and regain your beautiful appearance. The key is to stick to it. Take care of your face every day, even several times a day. It's the only face you've got and it will be with you, taking care of you, for may years to come.
