A Different Approach To Car Finance For Those With Bad Credit

There can be very few people who can honestly say that organising their car finance is the high point of buying their new car. For the majority of us organising a car loan or car finance is a necessary burden - a part of the whole process that can be conveniently forgotten until it's time to face the music.

However, not only is this a somewhat unsettling way of doing things, it may not be in your best interests, and doing things the right way round can often prove to be a rewarding experience, helping to improve the way you approach the happier aspect of buying your next car- and that's browsing the dealers, taking a few cars for test drives and visualising yourself in the cars you see.

The trouble is that with finances stretched and with the past two years or so proving to be very unkind to almost everyone, getting car finance or a car loan is not quite as easy or as straightforward as it might have been a few years ago.

Getting any type of credit or loan is very hard, and with the majority of us now having credit histories and credit records which are not the most outstanding examples of credit imaginable, it's not getting any easier.

But all is not lost, and rather than brushing the necessary step of obtaining car finance under the carpet, by approaching the whole idea of car credit a different way you may well be surprised, and able to enjoy the whole process of choosing your next car much more.

Imagine the fun of browsing the dealers with a few thousand pounds in cash in your pocket, just waiting to be spent on a car of your choice. Imagine knowing for a fact that you have a sum of money all ready for you to spend on whatever car you like, and that all you have to do is choose a car you want that's in your price range.

This is quite a different way of working compared to how many people are currently approaching buying a car. For many people the process involves browsing the dealers with a vague sense of wishful thinking and mild jealousy at those who are already driving about the car we really want. Once we find a car, we then take it for a test drive, start asking the dealer questions, and get all excited at the possibility that we might actually be driving away the very car we want.

However, once the paperwork is begun it becomes painfully clear that your credit record is going to rear its ugly head once more and shoot your dreams down in flames. Not only is this very disappointing, but it can also be very embarrassing, causing you to quickly dismiss the idea of choosing a car this way in future.

You might feel that it would be safer to go to your bank for a loan, but this may well prove to be impossible if your credit record is a little patchy or shaky in any way. Banks and other lending institutions have become very careful, and are very much less inclined to give out unsecured credit to anyone who may pose a somewhat unreliable customer in future.

This may seem unfair, and it may be that your credit history reflects problems and issues you had many months ago, but which are no longer relevant as your circumstances have changed. Sadly banks are not likely to pay much attention to your current circumstances or your pleas, relying almost exclusively on your credit record instead.

But the problem is that you're looking for an unsecured loan, and this is much harder to get than a secured one. By approaching car finance differently you may well find that you are able to get somewhere. You may have heard of guaranteed car finance, and perhaps dismissed it as just another lending institution making grandiose claims that won't apply to you. However, what such car credit finance firms do is to pay the car dealer directly on your behalf, meaning that effectively the car finance company owns the vehicle until you have completely paid off the loan.

By approaching a car finance firm which offers guaranteed car finance you'll often find that they will pay more attention to your current circumstances and ability to pay rather than your credit history, and by being pre approved for a car loan you can then head off to the dealer of your choice, and choose any car you like knowing that the car finance has already been arranged, and the only thing stopping you from driving away the car of your choice is the time it takes for you to make up your mind!
