This shows that tiles are durable and their beauty does not fade but lasts even after the building itself is no longer there.

Tiles have changed very little in their actual components through the years. However, thanks to the work of talented artists they have emerged in all shapes, sizes, color and design. They are available for floors, bathrooms and on walls as well as other areas. Tile companies are located in almost every town where one can examine the different types of tile available.

They come in all sizes, usually from 18 inches down to as small as 1/2 inch and, when combined, can be used to form beautiful and distinctive patterns. Tile finish can be smooth, rough, swirled or other patterns. They can be of varied thicknesses depending on their intended use. Any desired style, color or finish can be obtained to fit the needs of the customer.

Most houses, hotels and other businesses have tile installed when they are built. They have found that, unlike carpeting, tile does not stain, fade or sag. If properly installed they will not break or become damaged unless some major catastrophe occurs, like an earthquake. That is not to say that a tile will not crack is some undue force is put on it, but this is rare.

A check of the Internet will find hundreds of different types available. Many homes use tile on their floors and around their kitchen counters. With the colors available it is easy to match the decor or design of any room or area.

Many architects and designers now use tile for entrance halls and other appropriate parts of the building. In addition, it has become popular to incorporate tile into outdoor backyards, building it around an area for a barbecue and other places for group gatherings. Swimming pools are another area where tiles show lovely designs through the water and invite guests to enjoy the cool comfort of the water.

A visit to Mexico or Spain will show extensive use of tile in their buildings and outdoor areas. Mexican resorts, especially, have areas where the tourists are enthralled by the beauty of the work. Many other countries of the world also use tiles to create lasting and memorable works of art to be enjoyed by all who see them.

When done as a DIY project, tile is relatively easy to install. Any home improvement store or carpet/tile store has experienced people on hand who will be glad to give step by step instructions on the subject. Some stores also have workshops with an instructor who will walk an interested group through what needs to be done. By talking to a professional about the best types of tiles and installation for a specific area, one will be able to create a unique and distinct living area.

For a traditional look that recalls ages past, add tiles to a fireplace or mantle. This can rejuvenate and give notice to an existing one and can be used to make it a central fixture in the room. Since this is a small area, the more expensive and artistic tiles can be used to the greatest effect here.

Tiles can be used to make your home look better and more expensive. No matter what style of a home you have, tiles can be included easily and can save you time in cleaning.
