Succeeding in your network marketing business is the dream of every network marketer. To succeed in a network marketing business you must practice good business building habits. At the same time you need to overcome the bad habits that will kill your business.

Here are three bad habits that will not only hurt your business, but these things could prevent you from achieving success.

1. Fear of picking up the telephone. Far too many marketers want the internet to do all of the work for them, with a set it and forget it mentality. While the internet is a powerful tool for building your business, it is critical to understand that a network marketing business is still a business built on relationships. Relationships are best developed and nurtured through personal interaction. In a world of impersonal emails filled with lifeless affiliate links, a live person stands out from the crowd. It is a known fact, that those who follow up with leads and prospects by phone build larger teams in a shorter period of time.

2. Failing to learn your craft. All too often a marketer finds a product that they "love" and so they set out to make their dreams come true by introducing everyone they can to this dynamite product. Unfortunately, they are trying to sail towards their dreams in a boat that is full of holes, has no sails and has a broken rudder. A product may give you a vehicle, but it is the principles and skills of marketing that give the power to move that vehicle through the water in an effecient manner. Many marketers are given great advice and help by those who are successful in network marketing. Sadly, when they are told, go through this training module or take part in this conference call, all too often they never apply that advice. Yet when they are heard from again, it is the same sad story of how their business is not going anywhere. This person has neither taken the time or initiative to learn the art of succeeding in a network marketing business. They are simply not equipped to move forward towards success.

3. Refusing to invest in your own business. Many people tend to be very frugal and don't want to spend money unless they absolutely have to. It is imperative that you have enough common sense to realize that if you are going to succeed in your business, you are going to have to invest in it. The investment in your business takes on two primary forms: Time and money. We hear from people week after week and month after month who are failing in their business, but refuse to either spend the time or money to improve the knowledge and abilities that will guide them to success. Sadly there are people who haven't generated a lead in months, but they won't even invest $50 to learn how to generate leads or acquire a system that will help them do it. Most people will spend more money on juice or vitamins or whatever they're promoting, so they can at least get a meager bonus check back on their personal purchases, but these aren't the things that bring success. The network marketing business is about leverage, not losing money on autoship programs. This point can't be stressed enough. If you are unwilling to invest your time in learning your craft and increasing your business skillsets, you need to shut down your business. The question is loud and clear: If you are unwilling to invest in yourself and your business....why should anyone else invest in you and your business?????

There are people each and every week who are losing their dreams and missing out on success in their network marketing business, because of these three things. Make these three things priorities in your business and you will go far.
