There are really only five teams that are serious contenders to win 2010's World Cup. Spain is full of talent and they've got an easy group with Switzerland, Honduras and Chile. With players like Fernando Torres, David Villa, Xaba and Cesc Fabregas, the Spanish squad has the talent to win their first World Cup betting. The main issue for Spain is that they could encounter a challenging round of 16 match versus the second place squad from Group G which will be Brazil or Portugal. Brazil is the most likely winner of Group G however if they in some manner slip and finish second, wouldn't it be a big shock to watch the two favorites, Brazil and Spain playing in the round of 16? Brazil is a genuine risk to win the World Cup this year, taking into consideration they have landed the World Cup a total of five times. They'll battle in a challenging group with Portugal and Ivory Coast but they should not have any trouble advancing to the round of 16 particularly since Ivory Coast probably has no chance now that leading scorer Didier Drogba is out with an injury.

Spain and Brazil are the top two choices in betting probabilities, with England the 3rd choice. They've got Wayne Rooney and are well coached with Fabio Capello. Whether their goaltender is good enough is the question. Argentina has the best player on the planet in Lionel Messi, which brings them into the mix. The squad is coached by Diego Maradona which is almost certainly more of a bad thing than a good thing. The Netherlands is the other possibility to secure the World Cup. They may have their greatest squad since 1988.

Italy is the defending champion and has landed the World Cup probabilities four times however they look to be far weaker than they were four years ago and have no genuine scoring threats. Germany has won the championship three times however they are less of risk this year lacking captain Michael Ballack who is injured.

France, Portgual and the United States could be interesting choices if you want darkhorse candidates. France has still got Thierry Henry, Nikolas Anelka, William Gallas and Franck Ribery as Portgual has Cristiano Ronaldo. The United States can't be completely discounted since it has Tim Howard and Landon Donovan.
