2010 Belmont Stakes gambling is going to have plenty of horses you might not have heard of and there will be a trainer you are not that familiar with.

Mike Maker will have his 1st ever horse in Belmont Stakes odds as he sends Stately Victor on Saturday, June 5th in the 142nd racing of the Belmont Stakes.

Stately Victor is listed in 200 Belmont Stakes gambling odds as one of the long shots. The horse was not very impressive in the Kentucky Derby and he will have to improve dramatically to make an impact in the Belmont. Mike Maker, his trainer, was an assistant for D. Wayne Lukas. Maker is pleased with how Stately Victor is doing heading up to the third race in horse racing's Triple Crown. Stately Victor is owned by Tom and Jack Conway yet he really has done nothing other than pull off an upset in the Blue Grass Stakes. He finished eighth in the Derby and that was about as good as he could do.

Maker had a great year training horses in '09 as his stable received more than $4.4 million dollars. Maker is happy to at last be at the Belmont. Stately Victor worked six furlongs recently in 1:14.20. He will be ridden by Alan Garcia in the Belmont. Maker is expecting that Garcia can align Stately Victor behind the speed in the Belmont and then run them down late. Maker is thinking that the speed will be First Dude, Spangled Star and Game on Dude.

The field for the 142nd Belmont looks to be ten horses. Kentucky Derby 2nd place finisher Ice Box will probably be a solid favorite. He is trained by Nick Zito who will also have Fly Down in the race. With odds of 20-1 or more, Stately Victor will probably be one of the long shots for the Belmont. There is not much in the Belmont to beat, and that is one thing that does help Stately Victor. Ice Box could be in the mix and maybe Fly Down and Drosselmeyer will get some action. The rest of the field certainly looks unproven and that fits right with Stately Victor whose only big victory came in the Blue Grass at odds of 40-1.

The Kentucky Derby winner or the Preakness winner won't be included in the Belmont Stakes this year. Depending upon whether or not a horse is going for the Triple Crown, the Belmont normally either has a bunch of gambling or very little. Even with no Triple Crown on the line there is still money to be made nevertheless. You need to start with the basics, as you consider the Belmont Stakes. That means you nonetheless wish to consider facts like past rankings, class, track conditions, for example. And most vital you also want to make sure your horse can race a mile and a half. It is not always quick to choose the winner in The Belmont odds. One of the largest factors is the distance. Choosing the winner can be a little bit hard because horses do not run a mile and a half.
