Why do people choose to do Internet Marketing? There are three simple answers to that question. First there is money to be made. Second, unlike other home based businesses Internet Marketing works. And finally, the overhead is lower than any other variety of venture out there. Internet Marketing businesses can be built on almost entirely sweat equity. This means that your enterprise requires very little capital investment and the harder you work at it the more productive it will be.

A lot of new people will ask how one knows that it will work. Simply put, it's been proven to work. businesses like Amazon and Ebay are two of the most notable examples of this, but there are other sites that are less known and still major examples. Sites like PaydotCom, Click bank, Ezine, and Squidoo. All of these sites started out as just a concept. Today they make their owners very comfortable to say the least. Not everyone will be aiming for sites or businesses like those, but they are great examples of what could be if you put in the work.

Next you may ask how I know there is money to be made. There is an easy reply to that too. Have you ever purchased anything from a website? You can get anything on the internet. Why not be part of that market and sell something of your own online? Remember back to Christmas time. Do you remember the huge market share that internet companies commanded during that season? That slice of the pie does not just evaporate until Christmas like Santa Clause. It is around the entire time. It's just up to you to cash in on it.

Possibly the most tempting aspect of internet marketing is that there is relatively no monetary overhead. There is of course hosting fees and domain names, but you can start a new venture for less than one hundred dollars on a bare bones budget. Almost every piece of software that you will need has an Open Source substitute, which is to say free to use. There are ways to promote that cost nothing. Most of the time you will not even have to buy products to sell. You can just sell for someone else and get paid a commission. Most often these opportunities are called affiliate programs and large retail sites will almost always have these programs in place.

Another thing that new people ask is if it's easy. Although some would say yes, I would answer with a resounding no. There is a lot to learn to having a profitable Internet based enterprise, and a lot of that comes from the school of hard knocks. Unless of course you find a great training program. A program that teaches you all the ins and outs of the business model with good mentors there to help you a long the way.
