In July of 2007, the president of the Mayan Council and all 440 Mayan tribes, Don Alejandro Cirillo, journeyed from Guatemala to Sedona, Arizona to meet with Drunvalo Melchizedek to resolve conventional misperceptions concerning the Mayan Vision and 2012. There have been many others who talked concerning the Mayan Calendar and 2012 in the past, but the genuine Mayan Council has been purposely speechless for over 200 years. Now, for the first time in modern history are they lecturing regarding their wisdom and the Prophecies.

The statement is very straightforward. This is not apocalypse, but is a brand new beginning in humanity's consciousness. Yes, there will be notable changes with the planet and in society. We are already observing this with the latest downfall of old financial entities in the planet, and transformations in the world's magnetic field. We are, as the Mayan's put it in the "End of Time", an close to 8 year period during which the transition will quicken as they head towards 2012.

For the new beginnings to birth, the old, stale, ego based systems must come to an end. Whether it is aged corporate compositions, financial systems, or political systems, if they are based on false, inauthentic procedures or premises, they must change. As we move towards 2012, more and more changes will take place. Old systems will collapse making way for new, more authentic heart based system to be created.

Ac Tah, a Mayan head who, in the past few years has come into fame spreading his message in Mexico, declares that 2012 is not the conclusion of life, it is in fact the beginning. Changes are occurring now, and will continue to take place after 2012. Humanity as a whole will rise up in awareness. He declares the extent of the changes that will take place and how difficult they are greatly depend on the level of human cognizance. He says the best thing we all can do at this moment is to come together in unity, regardless of race, religion, creed or view.

There are other spiritual chieftains from Mexico, which contains one of the largest Mayan populations, who have a common message. Popular author of The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz has just published another book called The Fifth Agreement. He spends much of his time exploring in North America and Mexico spreading his message "Ayudame cambiar el Mundo," which means "Help me change the World," in English.

Don Miguel asserts the aim of changing the world is finding equilibrium between unselfishness and gratitude - which is an exposition of genuine love. He goes further by saying that the earth is a living being and we humans are part of the organism of the earth and as such we convert the world through our energy. The way we have an impact on energy is by way of awareness. So, as we drift deeper into love in our energy, thoughts, feelings, words and acts, we reshape our mother, the earth, in a positive approach.

The bottom line is that even though there may be countless changes that transpire as we move close to 2012 and after, and these changes can bring up fear of the unknown, we are living in a special time in humanity's history. What on the facade may look like misfortune is really the old coming to an end in order to make way for the new. This doesn't mean that there will not be tragedy as the changes happen. When a large company breaks down many lose their jobs. When there are earthquakes, many may even lose their lives. And, while such things have always happened in human history, it does not negate the challenges and tragedies that occur. At the same time, however, as stated by the Mayans and other spiritual leaders, in the bigger picture what is happening has been destined to happen for a very long time. And most importantly, it is carrying all of us to a much better world to live in.
