Some Thoughts On Magnetic Sponsoring By Mike Dillard.

Magnetic Sponsoring is a book written by a important network marketing success named Mike Dillard.

In various recordings Mike Dillard explains that he initially wrote Magnetic Sponsoring with the intention of providing some solutions to some of the problems the other MLMers on his team were facing..

It was observed that Magnetic Sponsoring was producing results withing Mike Dillard's own team and apparently this information began to circulate around and provide help to other marketers, and eventually came to be sold as an income product by Dillard.

While it is not my intention here to rehash all the concepts in Magnetic Sponsoring, as you can get the book and read it yourself if you your interested, there are a few concepts that I wanted to go over, and some observations about how this applies to marketing you business, and also to current trends in the industry that I wanted to comment on.

Basically, the idea that there are certain things that one can do to cause others to be attracted to one, instead of chasing after a group of resistive prospects, is the main point of Magnetic Sponsoring..

In the book Mike explains the difference between two main personality types which he notes as Alpha and Beta. Alpha and Beta are opposites. Beta being the follower and the weaker type and Alpha being the leader, the stronger one.

Dillard explains that in order to be more Magnetic one must be, or become more Alpha.

This could be taken as a sort of reverse psychology if you will. They will want to join you because they perceive that you couldn't care less whether they do or not.
Alternaltively, if you are chasing a guy and calling him all day and night and won't leave him alone this will create a resistance to joining you.Magnetic Sponsoring's ideas have saturated the internet network marketing industry and various systems have based their entire company, and philosophy, upon Dillard's work. MLM Lead System Pro is a prime example of such a situation..

The entire system is designed to brand you as a leader and thus create an Attractive character and make you “magnetic”.
One of the most important points of Magnetic Sponsoring is the idea that pitching your primary MLM opportunity to a new prospect at the onset is a big “no-no” as this is a turn-off for people because in essence they are not interested in your opportunity.

The reasoning behind this has to do with the Magnetic Sponsoring datum that for you, as a network marketer, your market is that of other network marketers, or those who want to be in MLM.. This takes a lot of work out of the mix as you then are not in a position of trying to combat a prospects mental condition to pull them from a JOB mentality over into an entrepreneurial mentality.
What this means is that you are prospecting other marketers and almost all of them already have their own opportunity. Thus to begin by pitching them your primary opp is a waste of time because they already have a business

This allows one to provide “help” in the form of instruction in marketing as an opportunity to build value in oneself so as to position oneself as a place to go for help, and as a leader. Then they may be more likely to join you opportunity because they now see you as an authority.
In the meantime, you help can be provided in the form of books, tools, marketing programs, systems, Magnetic Sponsoring books, etc.

And you can profit whether any of them join your primary MLM business or not because you receive affiliate commission on the products they buy.

This has resulted in huge waves of people, particularly those who have become part of a system such as MLM Lead System Pro, but who have not accomplished much of anything of their own in this industry, but who have listened to training recordings or read Mike Dillard's book, and so now they are just sort of pretending that they are a leader and are offering help to those who may be in need.

This can be funny because there are now so many people online who are pitching their help in the area of marketing but who are not really getting any better results than the people they are offering the help to.

YouTube is full of videos of people telling you to not follow your upline but to “brand yourself', and so on.

This is making it even more confusing for newer marketers to sort out the real ones from the newbies and a lot of the time there are far more marketers pitching their help in this attraction marketing manner, than there are people pitching their opportunity..

I dare say that on Facebook, any group you join which is an MLM group will have a wall that is absolutely plastered with Magnetic Sponsoring type pitches. “Generate Free Leads Using Facebook!”, has gotten so common-place that it has become a cliche.
Most of the time it is placed by a person who has never recruited anyone but is simply brand new to an MLM marketing system in which Magnetic Sponsoring is the basis for the program.

And now we are being subjected to hundereds of "How To Get 100 Leads Per Day" ads, instead of just, "This Is The Greatest MLM Comp Plan Ever!" ads.

I'm not convinced one is better than the other.

My theory about the reason that this Magnetic Sponsoring concept is workable is due to the fact that it is different from the majority of what is being done. In other words, when you are being bombarded all day long by people pitching their primary MLM business and shouting at you about how fantastic their comp plan is, and someone comes along in the midst of all that and just says, "Is there anything I could do to help you in your business?", and you perceive that that guy is legitimately skilled to offer that help, well, this is a very attractive thing indeed.. Thus, “Attraction Marketing”.

But really, if you are just getting bombarded 500 times per day with offers for help from so many different people, offers like, “How To Get 20 Leads Per Day On Facebook For Free!”, now this new approach has become the spammy noise and the one guy left pitching his primary MLM business is the one that now seem different and interesting
Part of this is simply the fact that the free sites, Linkedin, Myspace, Twitter, etc., and the like, are now swamped with new network marketers who are broke and are trying to pull as much from the free media as possible in terms of leads. .

I find it hilarious when MLM Lead System Pro puts out a training seminar or has a live webinar on a particular marketing strategy and then the very next day my Facebook in-box has the same email from about eight different people, and they are all making the same type of offer because they all just watched the same webinar the night before.

In summary, I think the Magnetic Sponsoring approach is most effective in a situation where it is not the method being used by 99% of the people active in that media, but is effective when the approach is in the extreme minority.

But when you have 1000 people all giving you the same pitch offering to show you how to get 100 free leads per day, or whatever the going pitch is, the the one doing something that is different is the one that is going to win, and that might just be telling everyone how great his MLM opportunity is.
