There may be an invisible and silent danger on the loose in your home. Mold can cause numerous problems within your family, including reducing air quality, day to day living and overall health. The best way to combat the problem is to have a trained professional detect and completely remove the often hidden enemy. Mold is not to be ignored.

Evidence of this danger is both obvious and subtle. If you smell a musty odor in your home there is likely mold growing and feeding on moisture. If you see a white, powder-like residue on the walls, ceilings or flooring it’s time to call in a professional. But in any home where standing water or a leaking wall or floor is present there are bound to be a dangerous quantity of mold spores, even if undetected.

Those spores are toxic and can float around your home, looking for the moisture and organics that they thrive on. Removing the water source is only the first step and when that is not followed by a direct attack on the mold, the danger is still there.

The presence of mold can irritate breathing conditions such as asthma and bronchial infections, as well as cause various allergies to flare up. Many times these symptoms can alert you to the presence of mold even before you see or smell physical evidence. If you are having trouble sleeping, feel tightness in your chest or throat while in certain rooms or experience frequent nosebleeds and migraines, it’s a good idea to have a qualified mold inspection performed.
Mold has also been attributed as a cause of other conditions. If your family cannot shake the flu bug or has reoccurring bouts of the virus, mold may be to blame. Mold has also been known to contribute to agitate pneumonia, a condition that is especially harmful and dangerous for children and the elderly. Mold can get into your lungs and cause even more severe damage. Some research claims the presence of toxic molds can also harm your immune and central nervous systems.

Removing any sign of mold may help to relieve the irritants and immediate dangers, but won’t solve the problem over the long term. Washing the visible mold off with household cleaners is not the optimum solution either. Mostly ineffective, using these cleaners will require a lot of energy for only a short benefit. In fact, you may unwittingly be forcing the mold spores to move around your home in search of more moisture and organics.

Old standbys like bleach won’t work as traditions claims. Because bleach contains 98% water and the 2% balance of chemicals are evaporated away within seconds, you are simply applying water to the mold. Remember that mold thrives on water, no matter if it is scrubbed on or found in a puddle.
Hiring a mold remediation specialist is the wise choice when you suspect that mold is a present danger in your home. They will not only be able to recognize and pinpoint the problem, but they are equipped to handle the mold and remove it from your home.

With the proper equipment, an advanced and efficient method of removal and the know how to prevent a mold problem from reoccurring, the services and expertise of a mold remediation specialist is an excellent value.
