Undoubtedly, multi-million dollars are being spent on the advertising of churches every year, but the question remains, how effective have these ads proved to be? Are the lapsed Catholics actually returning to the Christian churches or are they going anywhere else?

There are various ways to determine that. But the most effective and easy way is to discover out is the number of footfalls. Some churches as well as the Seattle Archdiocese claim that there has been at least 15 per cent increase in their attendance after the advertising campaign.

Phoenix and Corpus Christi as well are of the self same view. One Peter Presley, a sales manager, who has cease going to his church at the age of 22, said, "I did not return to my Christian church as I noticed the teachings there is of no use to me. Too, cause of my sales job profile, which requires travelling with in and outside the region, these days I hardly get time to go to church."

Yes, advertisements are targeting those who have lost interest in the preachings of Christian church. But what about those who are merely busy and don't get time to attend the mass? For them, advertisements have opened up a new arena of ideas and innovations. To attract such individuals of the society, advertisements are offering a wide range of services to their members.

Such services include the help in packing or unpacking their bags while they attend the mass. Or in most of the Christian churches, there are babysitters, who take care of babies while their parents can take component in the events at church.

Another Shefali Martins, a media professional has told that "in my teenage years I lost interest in my catholic church and after sometime I joined evangelical protestant church. Such shift offers option not exactly to Ms Martins, instead, there are many like her who are moving from catholic Christian churches to protestant Christian churches.

According to her, once you have developed the theological differences with a church, an ad campaign could hardly do any miracle. One matter that angered her and played a major role in her shifting was the stance of her Christian church towards the homosexuality and homosexuals.

She told that "in this age and time, where the homosexuality has been accepted as law in some countries, how can a Christian church exercise bias towards homosexuals?" This type of opinion is rampant in Christian churches. It is as well really wrong.

"I felt bad when a friend of mine got the worse treatment in the place, which is considered to be a place of love and generosity. That was the time; I started thinking on different lines."

Sensitive topics like this have hardly come in to the light and discussed in a Christian church. In truth, even the Christian church advertisements never mention such topics. They only play a popular and hit formula that sounds like music to most ears. But the true problem can not be solved by discounting. In fact, we require to discuss these things so that it won't remain a taboo in the society and make our stand crystal clear about them.
