How does one attain MLM success? This is a question that dwells in the mind of anyone who is struggling to in their network marketing business. Thousands of people enter into a network marketing business each year, armed with a good product and a great compensation plan, but somehow they find that MLM success still seems to escape their grasp. On the other side of the spectrum are marketers seem to be achieving great success with what appears to be relative ease. So what makes the difference in lack of success for the struggling network marketer and their successful counterpart? The answer really is quite simple. The successful marketer has mastered their craft and the unsuccessful marketer has not.

To illustrate this point, picture a mechanic who has not learned the inner workings of internal combustion engines, or a pilot who has never been through ground school. Both of these examples lack the needed foundation for their work. You would not expect either one of these individuals to last long in their chosen profession for the simple reason that they do not know their craft. Sadly, too many network marketers treat their businesses just like these two examples. As it is with any other profession, it is imperative that a network marketer learn the skills of their trade, if they are to achieve any sustained measure of MLM success.

First and foremost the network marketing business is built on relationships. The foundational skill in our craft is the art of relationship building. Learning how to make contacts, create ongoing dialogue and nurture trust are essential ingredients to this set of skills. Relationships are the building blocks of both the customer base and the recruiting activities of the business, so MLM success cannot be obtained without it.

Another key component is marketing savvy. A marketer who does not get their business in front of others will not be a marketer for long. This part of the craft can be made up of many multiple facets. These skill sets might include the learning of offline strategies such as seminars, home parties and product demonstrations. Also included in this set of skills is online marketing techniques such as the use of blogging, social media and pay-per-click advertising.

Team builiding is another key ingredient to MLM success. A network marketer needs to learn how to recruit, train and deploy others as a part of their ongoing team building efforts. Learning how to coach, mentor and inspire others are key ingredients to this part of the craft. A good network marketer learns how to continously add value to their team to foster loyalty and longevity.

As with any other aspect of a network marketing business, the primary variable is you. The methods, strategies and tactics that have built successful businesses have been proven over and over again....it is the commitment to learn and apply those fundamentals that determines whether the marketer will achieve lasting MLM success.
