Are you tired of all the very high priced notebooks/laptops out there? Does buying a usedlaptop seem like a better option to you? Refurbished laptops are everywhere and anywhere these days, and the word itself also just seems like a “high talked about buzz word” of this tech industry. But do these used machines really hold up to the hard standard of the word “refurbished”?

I will hereby talk about what really should be the process a used notebook should have to undergo before it can earn the name” refurbished”, as well as the perks and disadvantages buying one will bring.

Now, you have seen refurbished or recertified laptops being showcased everywhere online nowadays, but you may still have the question are they all the same? The answer to this question is no. Every company has a different process of restoring a notebook/laptop, and they are not all equivalent.

This is what a good restoration process should contain and what one should go through:

- An assessment of all hardware components
- Analytic and performance test
- A disk Cleanup
- Cut & scratch repair not always done but will be a very nice plus.
What this process should equal out to would be is a machine that operates just as good as it was when it was brand new, and maybe even look just as new too.

The most important thing you can do if you are seeking at a specific “recertified” laptop is find out some information on the company selling it. Are they respectable, honest, well known? Also how long has this company been around? What steps are taken and what process do their refurbished laptops go through?

These are the most key things and questions you must ask. To be very honest here; there are many companies that state that their notebooks are recertified, but this is really a not true. There is a danger involved when buying a reconditioned notebook, and checking a company out before you purchase can go a long way towards your peace of mind.

That being said, great deals and quality notebooks can be found, and are found everyday.

Before I wrap up this article I would like say a few of the pluses and minuses of buying a refurbished notebook and what it can bring. For example, the clear advantage is that you can save loads of money on a mobile PC that runs just as good as any -- as long as the laptop is of good quality. This is the advantage that appeals to everyone when it comes to buying a reconditioned laptop.

As for downsides? Well, as stated above, there is a high risk when buying these notebooks. By doing proper research you can lower this risk, but it will always be there. Another down side to these machines is that you are limited to whatever is available. With a new notebook your options are never-ending –- With a refurbished one, you have to take what you can get and that’s the truth.

In all, I would say buying a refurbished laptop can be a great idea; given you take the time to ask questions and do the research such as the ones above. If done properly, you can get a great portable PC that will last you a very long time to come, and save you a lot of money as well.
