Catherine Zeta Jones wears it, as does Jennifer Lopez. Why? Because airbrush makeup creates a flawless face, almost as if you took your photo and ran it through Photoshop.

This is how it works. A few drops of airbrush foundation makeup is loaded into the small cup on the airbrush then sprayed onto the face. The result you get is a sheer, full coverage. You actually end up wearing less foundation, but with a flawless finish. It even hides under eye circles and rosacea. If you were to look under a microscope, you'd see tiny little dots of foundation on your skin. Your own skin is actually shining through, so it brings your personal tone through the makeup. You can also spray on your blush, eyebrows, eye shadows, eye liner and even lip color. It's truly amazing.

We are now living in a time that we can have the equipment and apply this kind of makeup on ourselves at home. First time users can buy this equipment in a kit. Once you have that, all you will ever have to replenish are your bottles of airbrush makeup colors. Your entire face makeup is done with about 15 drops of this makeup, that is if you do your eyes, cheeks, etc. To get yourself started, you can expect to pay anywhere from $120 to $600 as your initial investment. Most companies are making mini compressors, which are easier for home use and for travel.

How to Apply
1. Squeeze 8 drops of foundation into the designated cup. (Each brand will have its own instructions telling you specifically how many drops of each to use, I am using my own experiences to write these instructions.)

2. Hold the wand about 6 to 10 inches from your face, and spray the foundation in gentle circles over your face and neck. Don't hold the wand in one place, keep it in motion. Close your eyes when you are working close to them.

3. It should be dry upon impact, but give it a few seconds before applying a second coat to the areas that need more coverage. No need for finishing or setting powder.

4. To get into the different colors that you can use for the rest of your makeup, follow the instructions given with your particular airbrush. Most of them come with stencils for eyebrows, eye shadow guards and lip stencils to help you keep things in line at first. After awhile you will be able to apply eyeliner freehand!

Only use the makeup that is meant for the brand of equipment that you buy.
Cruelty-Free Companies

A great advantage is that many airbrush companies make non-animal tested products. Dinair Airbrush Makeup, OCC, and Luminess are among many cruelty-free brands.

Airbrush Advantages
Once you apply airbrush makeup, you are good to go for 10 or 20 hours, with the average of around 16 hours. It won't rub or smear.

If you need to share your makeup, like at a wedding, for example, the airbrush system is sanitary, since it never actually touches your skin.

Some brands have foundations that can be used on legs to conceal veins and discolorations. I personally work with Dinair equipment and they have a line of camouflage makeup that will cover port wine birth marks, tattoos or anything else you need covered. My experience with it has been amazing! They also have a tanning kit that you can attach to your mini compressor and use for an airbrush tan. I've done this for others and for myself and have been thrilled with the result. It's safe and natural looking. Another thing you can use your kit for is to apply temporary tattoos using a stencil, or body painting and special effects. Your imagination can be limitless with this system.
So, if you're looking for the flawless Hollywood look, airbrushing is the answer.
