Finding a local Milwaukee based accountant you can trust is very important these days. Hiring a professional and ethical accountant to aid in your business operations can be critical to the success of your company. I suggest you research and contact multiple accountants and choose two or three you are most comfortable with. Meet with those accountants before making a final choice so that you know your options and can select one whose experience and work style will be best suited to your needs and the needs of your business. Here are a few tips for finding that perfect Milwaukee Accountant.

The first thing to do is ask business associates, your banker, your financial planner or your lawyer. You might also want to get referrals from accounting associations or on line databases. Ask enough of those types of questions and you'll have yourself a large list to start from! If other professionals refer someone they are staking their reputation so they will most likely be a good accountant.

The second tip is to narrow those accountants down by where they are located. They will be willing to come to you on occasion but will probably charge for the trip. With the understanding you will most likely have to go to them, it would be wise to narrow your geographical preferences. Your small business is Dependant on you being there so the closer the better because it will limit your time out of the office.

The next way to find the accountant perfect for you is by narrowing them down by the expertise of the practice. If they only deal with corporations that have 1,000 employees or more they won't be a good fit. If they only have certain areas of expertise and it's not your business, look elsewhere. Find an accountant who deals with your business type and also small business size.

The final step for me is to investigate on line and see if they have a website and a good rating. Go to Google maps and see if they are listed and if they have reviews. If they have a nice up to date website they are serious about the business. If they have a few good ratings then they most likely are a solid legitimate business.

Call the accountant and get a feel for what they do. Ask how much services will be. Call three or four of the accountants on your list and ask them to tell you about their experience with working with clients in your industry and about their fees. From that information, narrow down your list to one or two accountants to interview in person. The likelihood is you have found someone you can trust and build a relationship with. This is not a fun process so make the search as thorough as possible so you won't have to do it again.
